The Tony Cruz galloper Cape Canaveral has been flying at Happy Valley and looks past the post to win the CSL 1010 Millions Challenge for its owners with stablemate Mega Champion in second place.
Frankly, this Challenge is of very little interest to racegoers. It only matters to owners who enter their horses for the prize money on offer.
Based on a points system for their successes in designated races, Cape Canaveral is leading Mega Champion by over twenty points.
With only six more of these “challenging racedays” to be run, only a huge reversal of form will deprive Cape Canaveral of bagging the top prize.
What’s interesting is that Cruz has entered Mega Champion while Cape Canaveral takes a rest to give its owners a chance of trying to catch up with the leader in this Challenge. But carrying topweight makes it quite a task.
