With quite a lot of the filming for “Iron Man 3” to be done in Hong Kong, singer-actor-man for all seasons, Andy Lau is in negotiations for a role in this film- probably that of a scientist and old friend of Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark and who comes to his rescue of his old friend. We understand that, originally, Lau was set to play Iron Man’s Marvel Comics’ villain named “Mr. Mandarin”. But with Chinese backers behind the film, the idea of a Chinese villain was dropped. It appears that Ben Kingsley will now play “Mr. Mandarin.” After all, who would want to see the ultra-popular Lau playing a Chinese villain- especially in China?
As for Jessica “The Tree Of Life” Chastain, the Actress is said to play the role of Dr. Maya Hansen who is, yes, very sexy and has some kinda romp with Tony Stark.
“Mr. Mandarin” or not, the filming of “Iron Man 3” will, we hear, offer many in Hong Kong the chance for some speaking parts and walk-on roles.
Watch for a stampede and every modeling agency in Hong Kong at the front of the queue.
Not to be outdone by Iron Man, the next James Bond movie “Skyfall” will have a very strong nod to China- and the China movie market.
Scenes will be shot in China and Daniel Craig will be filming in Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, Beijing and Shanghai.
And just to show how things have changed, 007 no longer likes his martinis shaken and not stirred.
He’s taste buds have changed and in the new movie- and with product placement galore- he’s switched to drinking Heineken.
Yes, even 007 can be bought for the price of a beer these days- and a great marketing move by Heineken as it’s so damn popular in China.
Sorry, but 007 ordering a Tsingtao would be lost on an International audience whereas the brand would be considered “too local” and therefore very uncool in China.
So, make it a Heineken- not shaken, not stirred, very cold and in the bottle.
