I just finished reading a very in-depth piece in the South China Morning Post about the trials and tribulations of the Bruce Lee family saga which has always centered around the Rights issues to the late actor’s likeness, name and who owns what and why and how.

It made my stomach churn reading some of the quotes and how, despite relatives wanting so-called “harmony” and the need for “co-operation”, those are all saccharine soundbites lobbed in a very transparent effort to those who know the background to this family feud, it’s all about money.

It always has been and always will and with so many other parties outside of the Lee family circle hovering around the fringes trying to find ways to have their pound of flesh.

The really big story is how and why this feud exists and why Shannon Lee, the gatekeeper to her father’s legacy has turned her back on her relatives, why ex-wife Linda has washed her hands off the whole darn thing and, at least to me, the veil of silence over the shooting of Brandon Lee on the set of “The Crow.”
This silence, this mystery as to how a prop gun supposedly loaded with blanks could suddenly have a real bullet and which killed the young actor has always bothered me.

How did this happen? Who shot the gun? Who shot the sheriff and what role would Brandon have played in this decades old power struggle for the Bruce Lee Estate which everyone knows belonged to Linda Lee Caldwell and which was inherited by daughter Shannon?

This will never ever change and the other family members should just give up on any reconciliation or seeing one cent from any part of the Bruce Lee money-making machine.
Still, at a time when everything has been said and written about Bruce Lee, the entire family’s silence over the death of Brandon Lee and where he would have fit into this jigsaw raises a number of questions totally missed by a media barking up the wrong family tree.
