Owner Mr.Tung Moon Fai must have a thing for jewellery.
Why else would nearly all his horses have the name “Jewellery” attached to them?
The one exception is his Tan Tat Baby.
There’s been Unique Jewellery, Fashion Jewellery and, on Saturday, sees the return of Supreme Jewellery.
Sidelined for over 5 months, what’s interesting is that the time of Supreme Jewellery’s win in Class 4 was as good as that of a Class 1 runner.
But before getting too excited about this, there was a strong tailwind that day and which flattered the runs of many horses.
It also didn’t beat much – and with probably the best horse coming out of that race being Rumba King.
If going purely on times, logic will tell you that there is a huge opportunity for trainer John Size to take this horse through the grades-perhaps even all the way to Class 1 company.
This is something Size excels at: Bringing untapped horses through the grades.
However, we have our doubts about this horse though it is a lovely looking animal.
Drawn the “wrong” side of the track where an outside draw always favours horses over a 1000 metre sprint at Shatin – it’s drawn barrier one – the horse has one of the best pilots on it in Douglas Whyte.
With its natural speed and if Whyte can get him out of the barrier and cross over to the rails, the horse could surprise us and win.
But we doubt it.
