The new way of looking at horse racing

“DARTH” FERRARIS NOW HAS REASON TO SMILE!

Some know trainer David Ferraris as being the “Darth Vader” of racing.

They all like him, but also know Ferraris to be moody and with the South African plagued this season with horses being moved to other stables, many of his horses being unlucky in the running and construction work nearby, apparently, affecting his training techniques.

Suddenly, however, “Darth” has hit a winning streak and with him training even doubles and taking out a recent Cup race.

“Darth” Ferraris is finally smiling and has a new spring in his step and with his association with jockey Weichong Marwing really clicking.

When they combined to win the Champions and Chater Cup with Liberator, that noise heard throughout Hong Kong was “Darth” screaming with delight

From having a measly eleven winners at the end of April, the Ferraris yard has banged in seven winners- a remarkable 40% of his stable’s total winners.

On Saturday, he has two horses entered that are worthy of notice- especially Bear Hero which is in Race 8.

Bear Hero was all set to be one of Hong Kong’s best young sprinters until a trip to Australia took its toll on the galloper.

Has “Darth” been able to get it back to its original talented self? We think, this will happen next season, but it has a good chance over the 1000 metres sprint it tackles even though drawn “the wrong side” of the track in barrier 3.

There is also the enigmatic Chater Way entered in Race 10 which ran a very good close to Kyara, ironically, one of the horses “Darth” lost to another stable when going through his lean spell.

In another case of irony, it comes up against Kyara again- a horse which “Darth” hated to see leave his stable.
