It’s been a relatively quiet start to the new season by Champion trainer Dennis Yip and his strong partnership with jockey Zac Purton is still to click into first gear.
What we have heard is that Yip is not rushing to get his new horses racing while has other horses that need a drop in the ratings.
On Sunday, we see his stable star- All You Wish (R7 – #4) – make its debut for the season when it takes its place in the running of the Chevalier Cup and with Douglas Whyte aboard- a regular ride for the jockey and part of Yip’s army of jockeys.
So far this season, Yip has used a variety of jockeys and adopted a “horses for courses” approach with those benefitting most from his support being Whyte, Purton and Tye Angland whereas apprentice Alvin Ng who is having an extremely quiet season so far, seemingly being used on horses needing a relief in the handicaps.
