A group of us were talking about this sudden spate of senseless killings, especially, in the States and which, very sadly, appears to be set to get much worse before getting better as it has almost become an unholy trend. The big question is this: Why? Is it a world or country gone mad and, if so, why?
Does it have to do with minds warped with all the clutter and debris of a media appealing to the lowest common denominator, or the Peter Principle taking over the entertainment world and where mediocrity is marketed, or a world tuned in to the likes of TMZ, Fox News, those two Dr.Evil- Murdoch and Trump- the glorification of violence and the faked out worlds of all those fatuous unreal reality shows and where nothing is real and there’s everything to get hung about?
Often, I wonder what John Lennon would have thought about what passes itself off as entertainment and music- and what he would have done about it. What do you think?
Having spent the past week with someone who lives almost a vicarious life watching the E! Channel and following the adventures of the Kardashians and more recently, one of the Jonas Brothers and with me not being allowed to switch channels and, therefore, having to stare at the worlds of these people, it really does not seem to be healthy for minds.
It’s mindless crap and a very false picture of the real world where everyone lives in mansions, have pools, saunas and can buy anything they want.

I have no idea how and why the Kardashians are celebrities and where the fuck they came from other than the fact that their father, Robert Kardashian, was a brilliant- and expensive- defense lawyer who was part of the team that got O.J.Simpson that infamous Innocent verdict. The pieces always come together and fit.
One thing I know is that a channel like E! which shows wall to wall Kardashians and Ryan Seacrest whose production company churns this crap out should be ashamed for peddling such crap and I curse Sir Walter Raleigh and damn the media that promotes all of this.
These days, we must be extra careful about what we peddle to the public and how we use social media to get across our messages. Let’s not forget how that terrible hoax by two Aussie DJs went pear-shaped and resulted in an unnecessary and very tragic death of a nurse and a mother, the memories of which are NOT going to go away and apologies by these two idiots is not enough.

As for Khloe and Lamar and the whiny Kardashian with her loser boyfriend and an ambitious and botoxed stage door mother and a step father- former decathlon champion Bruce Jenner with a mangled face after various facelifts gone wrong is fobbed off as entertainment? I spent a year with someone who lived and breathed watching E! and thought that the celebrity lifestyle showcased on the channel was just going to fall on his lap simply through the gift of the gab and “connections”. Four years later and now around 32, he doesn’t have two dimes to rub together and still lives the life of the E! people while staying with his mother and being angry at the world for not being seen on the Red Carpet with Victoria Secrets Models and actresses.
That is the problem: frustration, jealously, watching television showing obscene wealth shared by Bachelors and Bachelorettes while you play some violent video game and wondering why this has all passed you by which boils over into a rage and when all hell can break loose. There’s a very thin line between fantasy and reality and, for some, the lines get very blurred.
In the music world, just think of how Rihanna’s music has taken a backseat to her personal life and her on-again-off-again-on-again relationship with female basher Chris Brown and their often drugged up personal lives. Are both of them role models or role muddles for easily influenced minds- young minds? And where’s the music? No one cares. The hairstylist and designer have become more important than the record producer. Again, a lack of priorities.
Thank gawd for Adele and Alicia Keys. We need more of them- real people with real talent and with no gimmicks and zero plastic fantastic baggage- and less of the media-made, fake-riddled “celebritydom” of Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj, Rappers preaching hate and anger, talk of music and the Illuminati, lost kids who have grown up much too quickly like Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomes and so many more who are here one day and nowhere the next and famous for being famous. Remember Paris Hilton? Hell, she can’t even get invited anyone to the opening of an envelope in the Philippines.
The media builds them up only to tear them down before they all enter that big dumpster along with Madonna, Brit Brit, Lindsay Lohan, Octo-Mum, reality “stars” galore and countless other has-beens.
Obama and others can weep and wonder why these shootings keep taking place. Sure, new gun laws are needed. But before that, the anger must subside. America is a very angry and divided country right now and a Black president in the White House has not created Kermit’s Rainbow Connection. Far from it.
It is this anger that fuels everything that is evil and this anger must come from what fragile minds see and hear in much of the music produced and wonder why they don’t have a share in any of this and feel lonely. With nothing to lose, they take the lawless into their own hands and go hunting for revenge.
Let’s never forget what triggered Charles Manson and his tribe and their chilling killing spree: The mad Manson heard voices in the Beatles’ recording of “Helter Skelter” and thought he was exacting revenge on record producer Terry Melcher who had apparently promised him a recording deal through his friendship with Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys.
When Melcher reneged on his deal, Manson sent his followers to the producer’s house and which he had rented out that weekend, possibly, fearing revenge from Manson. What happened is still chilling and which Vincent Bugliosi’s “Helter Skelter” covers in great detail and shows the dark psyche of man.

Bottom line: Our life’s priorities are way outta whack and which has never ever been this bad and where the family unit has completely broken down.
On top of this, what is fed to the young and restless and the frustrated and the angry as “entertainment” only adds to all the negativity.
We are all surrounded by lies and half-truths wherever we look preached by so many weak minds look up to as real heroes are hard to find and so enter into worlds that we should not.
As John Lennon sang, “Give Me Some Truth.” Imagining is not helping as many are imagining about everything opposite to the peaceful lyrics of that song.
Sometimes, one song can change the world, and we need one song right now to get us back on track- not politicians, not the news, not the media, not celebrities, not some fleeting cause de jour concerts: We need ONE fucking great song with ONE very positive fucking message to change this world.
