DOING THE TIPS AND DOING THE DOUGIE WITH KAYLA NISBET

DOING THE TIPS AND DOING THE DOUGIE WITH KAYLA NISBET

AND THEY ALL DID THE DOUGIE!

NISBET 8

If anyone ever wanted to know- and see- the popularity of Rock Star Jockey Douglas Whyte- well, they should have been at the Beer Garden on Thursday for the final meeting of the season at Happy Valley.

NISBET 9

We were backstage with our mate Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Wayne Harris who was in Hong Kong with his partner Tracy for a break, and none of us could believe just how many lengths ahead of everyone riding here Whyte is when it comes to charisma and sheer style.

NISBET 10

With the jockey on the sidelines that night serving a suspension- his fifth for the season- he needed a tight security cordon to escort him from Adrenaline to the Beer Garden as the blinding army of lightbulbs popped furiously as he came off stage after being a good sport- and as a surprise to a friend- and revving up the crowd with racing specialist Sarika Choy and singer Ben Semmens during a version of the song called Home. And more on this song soon.

NISBET 11

Joao Moreira and Zac Purton might have been trying to win races that night on the track, but it was obvious that Douglas Whyte had won the hearts of the racing public, something that was plain to see as he walked through the racecourse as if walking on water, and just how much this phenomenal jockey’s popularity irks so many in racing who, that night, seeing who was stopping traffic looked as if they’d swallowed a turd and showed themselves be- to put it succinctly- the churlish, bitter, phony, petty, hypocritical intellectual midgets that they really are. And we now REALLY know who these sooks are- and why they’re losers.

NISBET 12

Wayne Harris, meanwhile, couldn’t believe what had happened as far as The Whyte Lightning Moment was concerned. He’d seen nothing like it: “No jockey I’ve met has the respect that Dougie commands, on and off the track.”

NISBET 13

Later that night, hours after Brett Prebble had brought the curtain down on the Valley races for the season with a runaway win on Trumps, Wayne and a group of us were still “doing the Dougie”.

NISBET 14

No one talked about who won what at the races as that all paled in significance to what we had seen onstage at the Beer Garden and another type of Group 1 win for Douglas Whyte.

NISBET 10

————————————————

RAFAEL HUI: HEY, BIG SPENDER.

NISBET 15

It boggled the mind to read that Rafael Hui, Hong Kong’s former Chief Secretary, aged 66, arrested on bribery charges, withdrew $10,000 in cash every day as spending money, had 14 different banking cards and 8 different credit cards, spent $7.5m on one credit card in a three-year period, paid $33,000 on a dinner at Nicholini’s at the Conrad AND, being a horse owner, spent thousands on, well, “carrots and bran” as feed for his equine friends. Wonder how much he BET???

NISBET 16

As for the $33,000 feed, we enjoy a good meal at Nicholini’s where the cuisine and service is superb. But even after ordering three good bottles of Red, the most expensive starter, the most expensive main course- okay, make it TWO expensive main courses- and FIVE desserts- we STILL can’t get our bill- for four- over $24,000.

NISBET 17

Will this greedy, corrupt, slimy old fool ever see the inside of a prison? Of course not.

There will be appeal after appeal, he’ll then be around 70, he’ll have some “medical condition” that will require him “going overseas” where he’ll go and live out his life stuffing his face in “Hongkouver” where he, undoubtedly, has more of what corruption can buy stashed away.

KAYLA NISBET AND RACING’S X FACTOR

NISBET 19

She’s young, she’s a gifted rider and she is a very attractive girl- but Kayla Nisbet can be so much more- IF those marketing geniuses in racing wake up from The Big Sleep.

NISBET 20

Kayla Nisbet is one of The New Faces Of Racing along with Tommy Berry, Chad Schofield, Katelyn Mallyon and Timothy Bell.

More to the point- and as we’ve been going on about- any young newbie to racing would readily identify with the lifestyles of the names mentioned above whereas Kayla Nisbet is, along with Tommy Berry- her sister is the Berry boy’s long-time girlfriend- THE most marketable jockey we’ve seen in a very long time.

Jockeys Doing Driver Training

Relaxed Racing or Kayla Nisbet? Puhleeeze. And if the day arrives when there might be a race meeting or sponsored Cup race between the HKJC and Racing Victoria or an International Young Guns race, we’d be making wooh wooh noises for Kayla Nisbet to take centrestage in its marketing.

NISBET 22

How we’d love to have her make a special appearance and ride at, let’s say, an Australasian Cup race at a Happy Valley Happy Wednesday meeting alongside Tommy Berry, Chad Schofield, Timothy Bell and Katelyn Mallyon representing Australia, and from Hong Kong, Joao Moreira, Zac Purton, Dougie Whyte, Matthew Chadwick, Karis Teetan and Keith Yeung.

NISBET 23

—————————————————

THE FAST TRACKER GOES AT IT COMMANDO STYLE WITH THE NAKED TRUTH.

Well, all those predictions that Thursday would be The Purton-Moreira Show never materialized and one of the reasons, I run out screaming whenever anything to do with paid tipsters prattling on about their nose pickers appear anywhere near me.

NISBET 24

What’s discussed by these pundits can hang around like a Death Star, have an influence on YOUR original picks- stick with these as there is no one to blame other than yourself for the choices made- and get many talking through their pockets when they fail.

David Playford sxc (playboy)

I’ve seen enough of these rants on twitter by Aussie twits who are either very wrong and would be sued to kingdom come for libel in the UK, Hong Kong or the US for their constant and relentless accusations of jockey rorts with one particular Sydney-based rider-and well-known wannabe Lothario- always singled out.

NISBET 26

Either that, or this social media racing police is so correct with these public shame-ings that it makes betting on racing in Oz look like one big waste of rorted time.

NISBET 27

Oi! Oi! Oi! Aussie! Aussie! Aussie? Nah, not for me unless we’re talking about Australia, the winner of the Epsom Derby, which, together with trainer Aiden O’Brien and jockey Joseph O’Brien, made the doubters eat their words.

NISBET 28

On Thursday night at Happy Valley, though Purton rode a double including taking out the Happy Valley Vase aboard the Caspar Fownes-trained Rainbow Chic, Moreira drew his second blank in three race days.

NISBET 29

To be fair, I had Moreira’s hotties- Longwah Amber and Gold Addiction- as the biggest lays of the night while sitting with Dougie Whyte, he was supremely confident for some highly interesting reasons why Domineer- another favorite- wouldn’t even run a place. He was dead right.

BEER GARDEN 5

The racing didn’t produce the tight finishes we have come to expect other than the competitive riding of Karis Teetan ( Harbour Punk) and Andy Suborics on Roman Legend and the finish of the evening’s Cup race.

NISBET 30

Of the other races, Sydney-based Christian Reith opened his winning account in Hong Kong aboard Lucky Choice at 24 to 1 while the very laid back Hugh Bowman won on the first-time blinkered Hawthorne.

NISBET 31

Hawthorne was The Huge One’s third win in three meetings and it was good that the jock has had his parents- Jim and Mandy- in Hong Kong for all three wins along with meeting up with Sydneysider mate Wayne Harris, below.

NISBET 32

Of the eight races, six were won by Aussie jockeys- the most number of expat nationalities riding in Hong Kong that night and for the rest of the season- so not exactly such a big deal- but big enough to give Andrew Bensley, Oz racing’s Walter Cronkite, a Hoss-sized horn and chant of Oi! Oi! Oi! heard all the way from The Land Down Under.

NISBET 33

Far better, if Hoss reminded Aussie punters just how much Hong Kong money is wagered on the biggest races in Oz- especially the Melbourne Cup- which keeps racing Down Under from going tits up plus the constantly growing number of Hong Kong race horse owners in every state in the country who have already snapped up property, vineyards and have moved into the mining industry.

NISBET 34

It might be a hard pill to swallow, but the bitter truth always is.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

As for Thursday night’s racing, I saved the cheering for local jockey Ben “The Plunger” So and his win on Trendy Win at 37 to 1 and where, at least, I had a collect for my Wai Wai Wais.

Screw the patriotism. It doesn’t pay the bills.

NISBET 36

Apart from today’s meeting- and it’s a very good card- these next few meetings will be tough going what with the extremely hot and humid conditions, racing on that All-Bother track at Shatin, horses having been given runs to bring them down in the ratings and now down to a winnable mark- but are they FIT?- plus daft talk by Benno Yung about why he slapped blinkers on Hawthorne- he basically had no idea why he had- and which led all the way for Hugh Bowman to win at 51 to 1.

NISBET 37

I’d look at the horses with John Size, Caspar Fownes and, maybe, Tony Cruz as they have all left something in the locker as ammunition to fight the good fight for the Trainers Premiership battle.

NISBET 38

As for most of the other stables, some of the trainers seriously shouldn’t have licenses- and, hopefully, they might not by the end of this season- whereas the battlers- of their own making- stand around looking so sour and twisted, it’s no surprise they don’t attract new owners looking to have some FUN racing their horses.

NISBET 39

But, having fun with the Buster Keatons I had the misfortune to run into on Thursday?

Dinner with Hannibal Lechter would be more fun, Clarisse.

NISBET 40

Their gigs are up, Batman, along with The Boy Who Cried Wolf girlie man bleatings that might have won over some of us back then, but, now come across sounding more whiny than a Kardashian missing getting down on their knees in front of an NBA basketball player.

NISBET 41

Meanwhile, with Joao Moreira riding in Japan, Purton and Whyte should have the Jockey Challenge to themselves today with me backing the latter jockey who could win the last three races on the card without surprising.

R1 COLUMBUS LINE/NIGHTLIGN/HAPPY GOAL/DIAMOND START

Tommy Berry on Columbus Line to continue from

where he left off yesterday at Eagle Farm- by riding a treble for trainer Gai Waterhouse.

NISBET 42

R2 HIT A HOME RUN/TAI PO FORTUNE/GLOBAL FAME

NISBET 43

R3 WORLD CITY/ REAL FIT/UNIQUE HAPPIEST/DRAGON ENERGY

R4 TOP ACT/UNIQUE JOYFUL/AMAZING ALWAYS/SAFARI MAGIC

Another win for Tommy Boy.

NISBET 44

R5 STAR MAJESTIC/GRAND HARBOUR/ON THE WAY/TELECOM PRINCE

The first leg of the Triple Trio which today has a HUGE jackpot up for grabs. And though this first leg looks- only looks- relatively easy, the next two legs are nightmares!

NISBET 45

R6 SMART PLANET/MY SURPLUS/RAZOR QUEST/ASCENSION

R7 AGIAAL/AMBASSADORSHIP/LUCKY OMENS/ONGOING VOLATILITY

The last leg of the bumper Triple Trio jackpot and if still in there with a shout, try and chillax- try as this is can be a real shocker of a race where only Lucky Omens strikes me as being a safe banker. Is any banker…safe? Or trustworthy?

NISBET 46

For value, I suggest Agiaal, Ongoing Volatility- oh, jeez, my jinx horse- Autumn Gold is racing here, down a class, and over 2000 metres with Hugh Bowman on it and only at 4 to 1 overnight- and Towering Storm.

Ben “The Plunger” So riding Ongoing Volatility could run into a placing at very good odds.

NISBET 47

R8 AEROVELOCITY/SECRET SHAM/REWARDING STAR

A VERY interesting race where the Paul O’Sullivan-trained Ongoing Volatility goes for its SIXTH win of the season for regular pilot Zac Purton- a fantastic team effort.

NISBET 48

Being a Cup race- The Prince Jewellery And Watch Premier Cup- John Moore has entered his usual army of runners- Rewarding Star, Frederick Engels, Secret Sham and Destined For Glory with all of them capable of stopping any more Aerovelocity.

NISBET 49

But, which one? Rewarding Star’s easy win at its last start was when racing down a class and carrying a very light weight.

NISBET 50

Today, it’s racing up a class, again has Tommy Berry up, and carrying more weight. Could this stop it and is the stable elect Secret Sham with Hughie Bowman up?

NISBET 51

R9 LUGER/FIVE UP HIGH

Luger is of the few horses Whyte rides for his great mate John Size which should keep him in the running for the Trainers Premiership.

NISBET 52

Just a thought, but has anyone kept track on the number of Size-Moreira good things that have flopped?

NISBET 53

Just asking as the Chinese racing media are suggesting a few “smoking gun” theories surrounding the reason for the collapse this season of the Whyte-Size partnership.

NISBET 54

R10 LANG TAI SING/GOLDEN DEER/TONYBOY/GLORY BOY

One of these should win and this should be the boxed quinella.

NISBET 55

R11 KEY WITNESS/COUR VALANT/IMPERIAL CHAMPION/BERLINSKI

Key Witness is a VERY good young horse that will be even better next season and which should give Tony Cruz another winner and keep him in the Trainers Premiership race.

NISBET 56

As this is the second Quartet bet race of the afternoon and, in many ways, the last race of the 2013-2014 season, I wanna go out with a bang by bagging the Six Up, the Treble, the third double trio and grabbing this quartet: 10 (win banker) x3,5,7,8,11,14.
