THE FAST TRACKER
It really is pot luck and anyone who believes they can tip anything- other than a waitress- when it comes to the races tonight this early on and without knowing how the track will ride and when Zeus might strike is talking bollocks.
Tonight is NOT a day to go mad on the punt where, it just might be a leader’s track early on and if the rains come later on in the night, horses could be swooping down the outside.
Instead, try your luck with the Triple Trio where there’s a HK$11m jackpot and then join the Brazilian conga line in the Beer Garden along with the always interesting “array” of people in the Beer Garden- come rain or come shine.
R1 HIGHLAND DRAGON/SPICY SHRIMP/CHINA GOOD
Whaaaah? My old mate “Darth” Ferraris has TWO horses running in this race- Young Talent and China Good? Jeez, that’s almost half his stable!
Seriously though, I find it hard to fathom that the trainer behind the great Vengeance Of Rain has stopped attracting new owners with purchasing power.
R2 FIERY PATROL/DARK SECRET/NO TIES
R3 OCEAN ROAR/NAZAKAT’S LAD
Brett Prebble, weirdly, the forgotten man of Hong Kong racing, on Nazakat’s Lad, is a very interesting runner. This is a horse that’s far better than we’ve seen so far.
Meanwhile, Dickie Lui will definitely take Ocean Roar to the front and play Catch Me If You Can- a thoroughly entertaining movie by the way.
R4 SKY FAR/FORTUNE TERRITORY/FRIENDS OF YAN OI/NOBODY BUT YOU
The first leg of the Triple Trio and a hugely difficult hurdle to overcome as who knows how the track will ride and what happens if the skies open up right before the races?
It looks as if Victory General needs further than the 1200 metres it tackles here which is why, I’d rather go with value and Neil Callan on omen bet Sky Far, and horses with, at least, some kinda form on a yielding track.
R5 SKIP COURT/GUN PIT
Gun Pit is having its first start at Happy Valley and will start favorite, but it’s last start over 1600m at Shatin when it hit the front and then ended third to Telecom Prince has me going, Hmmmm.
Heartwood with Dickie Lui up might get an easy lead in the front and hold on for a placing whereas Skip Court with Dougie Whyte up and a very light weight is my banker- possibly even a double banker with Gun Pit to cut down my outlay for the Triple Trio.
R6 TOUCH GO/FUN ‘N GAMES/PENIAPHOBIA
R7 ALL WIN BOY/CALLING WITH LOVE/LONDON WALK
If local celebrity and horse owner Aaron Kwok isn’t at the track to watch his Calling With Love run drop it and go join the conga line.
Andy Suborics has had so many placings and with him riding All Win Boy a few pounds over, I’m hoping one of the real nice guys of racing adds another winner to his tally this season.
R8 WINNING MASCOT/HORSE APLENTY/AGIAAL
Strange that The Zac Attack doesn’t have a ride in this race, and not so strange if thunder, lightning and an outsider comes sailing down through with Noah paddling it home.
Speaking of which, Russell Crowe is pretty good as Noah.
