The new way of looking at horse racing

FROM SO-SO TO SA SA FOR MOORE THE MERRIER

He might not have his dream come true on Saturday by winning a Group 1 race in Australia when his highly-touted Mighty High flopped in the Caulfield Cup and only beat home December Draw, the race favourite which was later found to have broken down.

However, when it comes to winning the big races and winning Cups in Hong Kong, no trainer comes close to Moore.

And today on Ladies Purse Day, his Jacobee, supposedly the stable’s second-liner, won a closely contested race and, in so doing, it gave Moore his third win of this annual Cup race.

With stable jockey Darren Beadman on the race favourite – Destined For Glory – disappointing and never ever looking like even running a place – it was left to Tim Clark to bring Jacobee home.

It wasn’t easy, but it was great to see this newcomer to Hong Kong giving his all in all-Aussie tussle with Tye Angland on David Hall’s Familists.

It was also good to see Moore give this talented new jockey to Hong Kong’s riding ranks, a chance to win his first Cup race in Hong Kong.
