The Happy Valley track hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for Tony Cruz so far this season.
It’s also the track where the former champion jockey came so agonizingly close to winning the trainers championship on that very dramatic last day of the last season.
However, all this might change on Wednesday.
A number of Cruz runners have been sent out as favorites at the city track this season, but none have been able to salute.
Bad barrier draws and not having luck in running have proven costly for the trainer who had the most number of winners at this track last season. But these are early days.
On Wednesday, Cruz has entered five runners including Beauty Sparkle and Bullish Boy.
Both horses are certainly better than average and could quite easily be the tonic that “Cruzy” needs to break his drought.
