Happy Wednesday Rewind

We created stories about magic

We wrote many songs

We sang about kindness

And positivity

They were what was needed

For the journey to carry on

_______________

During the early days of Happy Wednesday, a not-very-good magician from the US is somehow booked by someone to perform at Adrenaline. The magician is a disaster. One night he forgets his card trick and another night makes a card disappear and can’t find it.

_______________

To get Happy Wednesday off the ground is a weekly series called “Finding Happy Wednesday”.

It’s great fun to produce and filmed by Scottie Hui and with a revolving door of three co-hosts including Sarika Choy, Nicole Purton, Justin and Natalie.

_______________

Interesting to speak to some very friendly and attractive French girls living in Hong Kong who become Happy Wednesday regulars.

For a long time, they believe that the same horses run in every race and that they are owned by the jockeys who ride them. They worry that the horses might get tired with all this running around.

Their strategy to be in the racing game is to follow the cutest jockey and the jockey wearing the most attractive “blouse”.

_______________

Australian singer Jimmy Cupples records the new Happy Wednesday theme song and is guest performer at the Beer Garden for the 2016 Hong Kong International Jockeys Challenge.

_______________

Through some twist of fate, Welsh singer-songwriter Ben Semmens is signed to be the regular performer at the Beer Garden and Adrenaline for four months. He’s so darn good that he stays for three years. We write some very good songs together.

Having trouble remembering lyrics, Ben wears shades onstage so he could peek at his iPad and look at the words to the songs.

Some in the audience believe Ben is blind.

_______________

During one of the season finale private parties at Adrenaline, someone kept yelling for João Moreira to look his way. He was screaming at Umberto Rispoli. João wasn’t there.

_______________

Lady Gai Gai aka legendary horse trainer Gai Waterhouse and television racing personality Francesca Cumani are among the guests at Adrenaline on the night of the 2012 International Jockeys Challenge.

Standing in a corner with his wife and ignored by everyone is the winner of the competition- a fairly unknown jockey named João Moreira.

That same night, Hong Kong based singer Jennifer Palor made a one-off guest appearance at the venue.

She stays on and becomes the regular singer at Adrenaline for five years along with her excellent backup band.

_______________

I mention to someone from the Happy Wednesday team - in a loving way- that she smells like a human ashtray. This isn’t taken well. It’s still not taken well.

_______________

Somehow, the CEO of the Hong Kong Jockey Club is coerced onto the dance floor at Adrenaline by someone who has no idea who he is.

As the music grows more frenzied, his dance moves become more, well, frenetic with arms flaying all over the place.

This evening, the dance known as The Octopus is born.

_______________

English football legend Kevin Keegan drops into Adrenaline while taking in a Happy Wednesday night.

_______________

Benny Andersson from ABBA is a special guest of the Swedish Consulate and attends Swedish Night at Happy Wednesday.

Benny gets lost in the ABBAmania of the evening including a performance at the Beer Garden by Australian ABBA tribute band BABBA.

_______________

Using the creative photographs of Wallace Wan, introduced is Jockeyoga.

_______________

Galloping Foodies are introduced and who create dishes named after some of Hong Kong’s most popular Jockeys.

_______________

Maybe HWB will make a come back?

FASTTRACK

The new way of looking at horse racing

The world of entertainment today is vast, it cannot be defined, it is intertwined and has become one. One cannot, for example, have music without fashion- and vice versa. Rock Stars, supermodels, actors and actresses and sports heroes have formed Mutual Admiration Societies.

On www.fasttrack.hk, you will see Who’s In, Who’s Out, What’s Hot and What’s Not- in Hong Kong and the rest of the world- in English and Chinese. It’s all ballsy stuff that breaks new ground and tells it like it is. The gloves are off.

Fast Track is the authority and driving force to steer you along the edgy road to this new world of entertainment.. Of course, there will be our opinions- off-the-wall, to-the-point and no waffle.

More important to us is what you think. Really think. Agree, disagree, or tell us to take a hike. As long as it’s a hike on the fast track of life, it doesn’t matter.
