The new way of looking at horse racing

HAPPY YEAH YEAH

The winner of the Po Leung Kuk Centenary Cup on Sunday at Happy Valley – yes, NOT Shatin – can very easily be a horse owned by Dr. Eric Cheng, one of the Vice Chairmen of the organization.

The horse is Happy Yeah Yeah and the race is part of what is known as the CSL 1010 Million Challenge, one of the more difficult “challenges” for newbies to racing to comprehend.

Still, those much smarter than us say that the horse is lying fourth in this Challenge and if it wins, it could gain 15 extra points which will catapult it to the head of the 1010 leader board.

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.

The last time it ran, drawn Barrier 11 on the C+3 course where a horse must lead at all costs, Happy Yeah Yeah, ridden by Douglas Whyte, was caught wide, but still finished fourth.

The run before, it won over 1000 metres.

This time, running over 1200 metres, it’s drawn the very favourable barrier one and with the old team of trainer Almond Lee and the brilliant Gerard Mosse combining to get this one home.

Can it win?

Sure it can, but we’ll be taking a boxed quinella with Many Gains and the newcomer Super Tiger.

With some good form in Australia over 1400 metres at Pakenham and Moonee Valley, this David Hall-trained galloper might need a longer trip and at Shatin, but it could run very well fresh.

Plus the Hall-Prebble has been in fine form recently and with the trainerl known to have some very good new ones in his stable.
