It’s interesting just how territorial Hong Kong nightlife has become- a very civilized division of the pie where the local triads are in charge of the bars, karaoke lounges, restaurants and hostess clubs in Kowloon’s Tsimshatsui and where one VERY seldom sees any other nationality working in any of these joints except for Chinese and the occasional Eastern European working ladies.
If out in that area, Sticky Fingers is a popular hunting ground for many with its ‘live’ bands and “open door policy” towards Filipina and Thai working girls, but careful about the fights that are usually settled there by rival Chinese gangs- with choppers.
Wanchai is owned and controlled by the Nepalese- one group of Nepalese who control ALL the big girlie joints- Escape, Players and the newly-opened Rio.
Rio is interesting in that it is trying VERY hard to bring in the old, rich clientele that once frequented the now-closed China City and Club BBoss purely for the stunning Lithuanian, Ukrainian and Russian dancers-for-takeaway who worked there.
Though it’s planted a few average looking Eastern Europeans to walk around the place and raise the hopes of the crowd there, these are hardly The Wolves Of Wall Street who once OWNED China City and BBoss.
They have either settled down or gone back to their wives to keep marriages and bank balances intact and been replaced by The Pussies of Ding Dong Street.
Gone are the days of falling in love with Lithuanian lovelies, in particular, and either setting them up in luxurious apartments or flying them out for bang bang parties outside of Hong Kong.
One cannot buy class and those hoping to get this group back have NO idea of the quality they have had and with no need to settle for the garden variety species.
Here lies the problem: Even with the niceties of this territorial carve up controlled by the Chinese triads who have tie-ups with Eastern European pimps who also work for the handful of members clubs in Lan Kwai Fong owned by long-time Hong Kong residents- true rip-off clubs aimed at big spenders from the sub-continent who get weak in the knees at the sight of white women- and the Nepalese network who pick, choose, befriend and protect those who can bring business to their clubs, what’s missing is Class.
Today, it’s all awash in mediocrity and D grade females for hire which has cheapened Hong Kong nightlife except for the glut of Clubs along Wyndham Street where the girls are not for sale, are usually with male friends and who stay well away from “oldsters” from anywhere in the world- but, especially, the oldsters and desperate “dudes” from the sub-continent who, to be frank, come up empty-handed wherever in the world they open their mouths and spout cheesy pickup lines.
Bottom line: The days of The Wolf Of Wall Street have made way for an inferior group of wannabes in the business and client sides- wannabes who are clueless about words like Quality, Class and knowing how hard the other half once partied and live to tell the tale.
