The news that the Indian owner of one brand of kebab outlets in Hong Kong was recently set upon by a group of Pakistani thugs hired by the rival owner of another group of kebab outlets as revenge for being part of an earlier beating, shows a very seedy side of Hong Kong.
I know both kebab houses- one being far more successful than the other which had been in Hong Kong for a far greater amount of time, but whatever happened to healthy competition? Guess it packed up and left.
One has to wonder what the hell will happen when our good friend Mr Sharma, below, goes ahead with plans to open ANOTHER kebab house called Babu almost next to these two rivals.
Talk about over-supply and one kebab too many.
Meanwhile, that area near The Kebab House, and clubs like Drop, Gekko and Buddha Bar are overrun by Nigerian coke dealers- which, for some reason, the local gendarmes say they’re powerless to stop as it’s hard to prove.
Duh! Whatever happened to plain clothed coppers- with white skins???
Meanwhile, it’s interesting that every pickup club in Wanchai, for whatever, reason, is not welcomed to any Chinese ladies- either from Hong Kong or Mainland China.
Hell, even seeing a Chinese male in any of these establishment is like seeing a Stranger In A Strange Land.
These remain the domains of very tough and dodgy Filipinas, Thais and Indonesians- many being domestic helpers who sneak out of wherever they might be working and return by 6am- and a diminishing group of Colombians- many with criminal records and known for stealing wallets, iPhones and also for spiking drinks.
It’s a jungle out there and a walk on the wild side even the late Lou Reed would have had second doubts about taking.
