The new way of looking at horse racing

Horse racing Rebooted and Remixed

It somehow made sense to the new abnormal we find ourselves in. Whether in Hong Kong or anywhere else where the priorities in life have become vaccinations, to vaccinate or not vaccinate, and how if everyone in the world was vaccinated, we’d be once again singing that it’s the age of Aquarius and time to let the sunshine in.

It’s that easy? Really?

At least to me, everything takes its lead from the city we live in. If the city’s broke and cracked, everything else is.

There maybe pockets of positivity, but these are not enough sustenance to feed the forty thousand on a continuous basis. Dig?

Every week, my friends and I are grateful that there’s horse racing. It helps keep the mind occupied and agile. It’s a form of mental reflexology. It’s interactivity. It’s consumer generated content played in minds. It’s much much more than an app.

Others, they find the same mental stimulation in eGames, different types of gaming, streaming whatever there’s to stream- anything to take them away from the boredom and lockdown mode of where they are.

It’s all about mental agility with the ability to switch channels.

On Sunday at Shatin, though missing out- again- on snaring the massive Triple Trio jackpot- surprised?- there still was some enjoyment in trying to win- but losing.

Weird? Not really. It had to do with the thrill of the chase. It always has to do with the thrill of the chase.

It not unlike being Indiana Jones in search of the magic elixir of entertainment and Happiness.

The fact that NO ONE won this round of the elusive game means that there’s next Sunday to look forward to and ready one’s self for a “rematch”. Stupid? Perhaps. But in games like this, there’s a “personal stupid” involved.

If too close to it all, there’s a strong chance of looking at horse racing the way it’s always been. Nothing wrong with this and it will continue. But these are times when nothing is what it once was. We’re in the new abnormal, remember?

To those hosting these events, it’s time to look at everything happening in this world- and view everything differently.

Like gaming is to some, horse racing is an adventure- an adventure in which one can lose themselves for around four hours.

It’s where a very different group of people taking what’s been there for decades and looking at it differently. It’s about adding new layers to something old.

In music, we might call it a Remix. This is Horse Racing Remixed.

From this jumping point, as Yoda would say, impossible is nothing. How far this Remix travels might just open new doors. This might actually be how some approach everything in life these days.

By Remixing it with the tools given so that it’s something fresh, new and fluid. There’s nothing wrong with this.

Shifting gears and changing formulas is nothing to be scared of.

If Tony Bennett once recorded with Gaga and Sinatra swung again with Bono, horse racing can work new adventures with programmers who will bring in magic men, create new star wars, introduce mysterious riders in the storm, create exciting and crossword coded mazes and who have the technology wherewithal to fuse it all together.

It’s where the virtual world, Westworld and the real world come together.

It had to happen and it already is. Happening. In those Mind Games.
