Racing at Happy Valley takes place tomorrow- Friday- which means saying Adios to 2012 on a Happy Friday instead of a Happy Wednesday.
Of course, apart from the racing, there will be various promotions and competitions taking place at all venues and the chance to meet a rare species of humans not usually seen in Hong Kong’s bland and boring club scene: An honest-to-goodness interesting and attractive group of International race-goers looking for a good time and not the usual group of Staunton Street yobs and yobettes guzzling beer for hours on end.
Of course, there are other reasons to make it for this Happy Friday.
1) Happy Friday takes place before Saturday and after Thursday.
2) A rare opportunity to scream something in Italian to baby-faced Italian jockey Umberto Rispoli even if you don’t speak Italian.
Use your hands and make him an offer he can’t refuse.
3) The chance to go Gangnam Style with either trainer Caspar “Psyche” Fownes or Director Of Racing, Bill “Party Guy” Nader.
4) Get blinged out by all the bling and blang Champion jockey Douglas Whyte, below, wears on his hands and other parts of his anatomy.
5) Go to Adrenaline and request the trio upstairs to perform Kenny G’s Greatest Hits while you fall asleep onstage.
6) Request the band at the Beer Garden to perform Susan Boyle’s biggest hit in a disco style.
7) Get dressed all in white, wear platform shoes, bring your own disco ball and setup your own portable discotheque in front of the stage area of The Beer Garden.
8) Enjoy this Happy Friday dressed as Batman and with ten paid for Eastern European Pussy Women in tow.
9) Kidnap race caller Brett “The Scarecrow” Davies, below, and call the races yourself and confuse the hell outta punters.
10) Dance like this.
