IMAGINE THIS: STANLEY KUBRICK DIRECTING THE BEATLES IN “THE LORD OF THE RINGS”

The Beatles were always ahead of the rest.

Even today, their music is way ahead of what all bands put out.

And this includes Radiohead.

Speak to Thom Yorke and, especially, Chris Martin, and they’ll wax rhapsodic about the Beatles.

Chris Martin will name “Tomorrow Never Knows” as his favourite Beatles’ song.

Probably his fabermost record of all time.

And why not?

Let’s never forget that they created and produced music videos before MTV and music videos.

They created and produced the trippiest animation film in “Yellow Submarine.”

By starting up Apple, they were Indie before there was Indie and Mork and Mindy pork pies.

They were DIY when most were D.O.A.

They produced music which has transcended time.

So, when John Lennon asked director Stanley Kubrick to work with them on Tolkien’s “Lord Of The Rings”, it showed that there weren’t just mushrooms and “Lucy” in their brains.

They were, as always, thinking way ahead of the rest.

They were and are the Beatles.
