Hong Kong has always unearthed world class talent and has made riders realize their potential.
It’s the competitive nature of racing here where even Glen Boss, who sees himself as racing deity, has struggled as has the yapping Craig Williams.
Bart Leisher, Basil Marcus, Zac Purton, Dougie Whyte, they all come to mind who have become better riders because of riding against so many international riders with so many different styles.
It’s still early days, but one name that’s popping up like zits on a teenager’s face is Karis Teetan.
Even before he started riding in races here, Teetan had been noticed and had impressed many during trackwork and trials as the new jockey to follow.
He proved his new fans right by winning the first race of this season and hasn’t really looked back by being in demand by almost every trainer in town.
On the weekend, Karis Teetan continues his early association with John Moore by- and this is important- riding stable stars Able Friend and Designs On Rome.
The latter is in the books of many as being one of THE horses to follow this season and we’re sure Teetan won’t be making any mistakes with either of these rides.
