The racing season might be over, but the awards keep on-coming. We mentioned all those patient and hard-working people who man-and woman- the phones as part of the HKJC’s telebet services along with everyone at the off-course betting centres as unsung heroes.
Imagine all the voices and numbers that might be going through their heads when they try to sleep- and their nightmares.
Today, more Unsung heroes and again we have to wonder what the hell their dreams might be like.

JENNY CHAPMAN

Forget her paddock parade hits where there is always value- and value that comes in and simply value that doesn’t come in- we watch our Jenny dodging people and horses as she braves the weather- the cold as ice days, the rainy days and Sundays and Wednesdays, the hot as Hades days- and walks around with her broken down microphone for 5-6 hours providing punters with her thoughts.
Talk about a sweaty Jane Fonda Workout.
And then, after the races, we run into her dancing her ass off at Spicy Fingers, hair flying all over the place and knocking down while hubby David Price looks on proudly as if to say, Yeah, I own that brood mare.

These provide so much for so many in Hong Kong, but, for some reason, also remain unknown to so many in Hong Kong and overseas.

We accidentally looked at a “cluster” of “ads” in the SCMP this morning for three charities funded by the HKJC- worthwhile charities- and which we are willing to bet will be lost on many readers.

The days of Seventies-type advertorials- like newspapers- are over and to truly communicate the importance of these charities, there must be a 10-15 minute mini-documentary of the work done and being done as The Mothership and which then needs to be distributed through all the new mediums available as the consumer based interested in charities is so diverse and important to the new, younger Hong Kong.

Keep going to the newspaper well all the time along with some vapid press releases and this work will remain a secret, it will not add to the HKJC brand and instead will be a mystery like toothless and faceless Hong Kong organizations like CreateHK, InvestHK and others too boring to name.
