It was a night when one threw the form book away.
With Happy Valley soaked by some “hard rain”- along with all the Oktoberfest beer – even the most seasoned followers of racing were getting it all wrong.
The two Dereks – Leung and Cruz – didn’t combine to bring home a winner with either Prosperous or Sure Forward.
To be fair, the former ran a good race to come and grab fourth from Barrier 9.
But Cruz kept his buoyant start to the season going by pulling off the largest betting plunge this season.
This was when his Flying Colours was backed from 20s to 6s and saluted in the last with Vincent C Y Ho aboard.
As many have said throughout the ages, That’s Racing!
