The last two visits to Peel Fresco have had me nodding off with one night featuring some truly ponderous progressive jizz and another night where amateurs jammed with a drummer finding it extremely tough to find his groove. All that was forgotten last night.
Last night, one almost expected Diego Maradona, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez and Tony Montana to jump onto the tiny space doubling as a dance floor and salsa the place down.

It really was little Colombia or big Latino Ole Ole as Chris Palonco and his band Azura Latino filled Peel Fresco with infectious rhythms and enthusiasm that had everyone on their feet.
I had no idea about the band and have no idea about Chris though many have, but, hombres, this is one of the best bands in Hong Kong- and they work and play hard for the money.

Okay, being the best in anything is not that tough in Hong Kong- especially when it comes to music- so I really am doing this band a disservice- a band that is great- individually and collectively.
Big Chris- and what a gorgeous girlfriend he has- might be the master of musical ceremonies, but this is a real band that comes together when time allows.
I say when “time allows” as Chris Palonco is in demand by Canto-popsters needing some hot tamales for their Hello Kitty congee. And he delivers.
And he delivered last night where it was sweaty, heaving and throbbing with some of the most sexy women I have seen in Hong Kong for a long time – with no affectations and no airs and graces.
One final word: The Spicy Bean Curd with Basil ordered from Tangerine next door along with the “satay shots” was brilliant.
Damn, wish I could have some of that Spicy Bean Curd right now.
