The new way of looking at horse racing

PLEASURE GAINS AND BANGING GONGS‏

It’s the start of Happy Wednesdays at Happy Valley Racecourse on the 11th- great ‘live’ music, brilliant eye candy rarely seen in Hong Kong and the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

Happy Wednesday will also see CSL 1010 continue to persevere with their extremely challenging 1010 Challenge which, after so many years, racing fans still don’t understand nor care about.

But, as with every year, the head of CSL Marketing, our old mate Mark Liversidge- alas, no longer in Hong Kong- gets to ring some bell like Quasimodo to launch this mind-boggling series of races that have a definite Monty Python ring to it. Ding dong, anyone at home?

Meanwhile, the hardcore Racing Specialists are excited about a Class 3 event over 1650 meters where two last start winners in PLEASURE GAINS and BULLISH BOY clash with the former making his debut at the city track whereas the latter has been performing well over course and distance.

Trainer Manfred “Do Wah Diddy Diddy” Man has been very selective when having his Shatin equine stars make that switch to the tight Valley track, so he must think that Pleasure Gains will do him and the connections of the horse proud and not be a resounding flop like his Dining Star was on the opening day of the new racing season.

Frankly, we’re waiting to see if the owners next horse will named Painful Gains while missing Mark Liversidge bang a gong and “git on” like a Marc Bolan song.
