RACING BUZZ SELECTIONS FOR SHA TIN

The battle for this season’s Jockey Premiership continues to gather steam, especially with Joao Moreira having to sit out two meetings with a suspension and what looks on paper being an extremely good book of rides for Zac Purton.

Ask racing fans in Hong Kong these days who they think will ride off with the title, and most, including the most loyal Joao supporter, will say that with the wind in his sails, oozing confidence and that weird little sashay in his walk, especially after a win and wiggling back to weigh in, the momentum and the better rides belong to The Zac Attack.

He’s receiving some solid support today from Caspar Fownes who’s adding more and more exciting new stock to his stable and looks set to end the season with a papadum bang and a vindaloo hot winning streak.

As Alicia Keys once sang, “This Girl Is On Fire” though the rider is hardly a girl. We’d be aghast if he doesn’t ride at least a treble today with the magic man perhaps chipping in with one winner. My, how the pendulum has swung…

With jackpots for the Triple Trio, the Six Up and the third Double Trio with the latter taking place in races nine and ten, the odds of there being some upsets are pretty high.

In the Six Up races, though the former Adrian Bott/Gai Waterhouse trained Montreal looked in need of its debut run in Hong Kong, the speedster races today with the blinkers on as he did in Australia, and really should win the fifth race, the first leg of the Six Up.

The next two races are where bridges could be detonated by outsiders popping up like zits. In race nine, there’s a very hot favourite in Handsome Bo Bo, and after three wins on the trot, one has to wonder if the Handicapper has finally caught up with him.

Handsome Bo Bo is a $1.90 favourite who’s easy to oppose when looking at both the Six Up and third Double Trio offering value. There are those days when one must live dangerously. No pain, no gain and all that jazz.
