The new way of looking at horse racing

Robbie Dolan let’s it go and is on his way...

Time will tell exactly how far he goes on The Voice Australia, but his first appearance on the Blind Auditions of the show has introduced jockey Robbie Dolan to a mainstream audience he would never reach in the racing world Down Under.

The Irish born and Sydney based rider had a memorable Group 1 win quite recently aboard the cult galloper Shelby Sixtysix.

Speaking of which, hopefully Trainer Danny Williams and main owner Brae Sokolski, give the horse a well deserved rest before things go awry. The gelding looked tired and in need of a good break at his last start.

Robbie Dolan, meanwhile, handled himself extremely confidently on the big stage with his rendition of James Bay’s “Let It Go” and had three buzzers of the four judges/coaches going off.

Only Keith Urban refrained- but it could have been a strategic move to “steal” Dolan, a very marketable contestant with his back story, from one of the other coaches.

It makes for “good television” like any reality show.

Remember race caller Anthony Manton’s appearance on the 2017 season of “Married At First Sight” and being branded “Australia’s Most Hated Man”? It was “good television” because viewership went up.

Very well done to Robbie Dolan. Whatever happens next is extra wavy gravy.

What we understand is that four contestants have already filmed individual parts to the current season of The Voice Australia with each naming themselves as the winner. Maybe.

Knowing something about these television singing competitions, especially American Idol, which introduced the world to Judge Nasty- Simon Cowell- everything is heavily scripted and pre-planned.

It’s like the judges on Britain’s Got Talent feigning over-the-top spontaneous surprise when a supposedly dowdy Scottish spinster named Susan Boyle auditioned and won that season’s show. Remember?

Think there wasn’t a rehearsal beforehand where the judges hadn’t already heard Susan Boyle?

Plus, the lady had been trying her luck on television talent searches in the UK for decades until appearing as a lonely spinster who lived with her cats and then having quite a tough job dealing with the fame game.

As for new Dad Robbie Dolan, the obligatory NDAs aside, one hopes he’s not bound by any ball busting contracts and can freely enjoy what should be a fun ride with his family.

From everything we know, and everyone who knows him, he’s a top bloke and deserves every good thing coming his way.

The new way of looking at horse racing

The world of entertainment today is vast, it cannot be defined, it is intertwined and has become one. One cannot, for example, have music without fashion- and vice versa. Rock Stars, supermodels, actors and actresses and sports heroes have formed Mutual Admiration Societies.

On www.fasttrack.hk, you will see Who’s In, Who’s Out, What’s Hot and What’s Not- in Hong Kong and the rest of the world- in English and Chinese. It’s all ballsy stuff that breaks new ground and tells it like it is. The gloves are off.

Fast Track is the authority and driving force to steer you along the edgy road to this new world of entertainment.. Of course, there will be our opinions- off-the-wall, to-the-point and no waffle.

More important to us is what you think. Really think. Agree, disagree, or tell us to take a hike. As long as it’s a hike on the fast track of life, it doesn’t matter.
