The new way of looking at horse racing

Shoutout for tonight’s races at Happy Valley

While counting down to the end of this racing season, one can’t help thinking what life in Hong Kong will be during the off season.

It’s been a topsy turvy season, but then, so has life. What’s key is to keep a positive attitude, and how, if in horse racing, what one can do to keep this pastime going.

There’s no room for personal agendas nor negativity.

For those who have had enough of Hong Kong, that’s fine: Leave, but don’t hang about like a bad smell being a serial ankle biter and biting the hand that feeds you.

INCENTIVISE FOR HONG KONG?

When the four year old gelding Incentivise, trained in Queensland by the quiet achiever Trainer Steve Tregea recently won a Saturday class race at Eagle Farm with Anthony Allen aboard, the performance turned more than heads.

Winning by a staggering nine lengths and beating a pretty decent field- four last winners including gallopers from the stables of Chris Waller, John Thompson and Tony Gollan-it gave many whiplash and the competition windburn. This win made it four out of five wins for the son of Shamus Award.

The win also didn’t escape the eyes of bloodstock agents looking at new equine talent for certain big spending Hong Kong owners.

How good is Incentivise? Who’s to know? Before the demolition job at Eagle Farm, we had only seen the galloper win a race at Toowoomba. He could be anything or it could be nothing.

Still, that nine length win at Eagle Farm wasn’t by a horse that’s not something worth checking out.
