The new way of looking at horse racing

STRAIGHT FROM THE HORSE’S MOUTH

After the win of Canto-pop superstar Aaron Kwok’s first-ever runner at Shatin on Wednesday in Calling With Love, trained by his mate of over ten years, Caspar Fownes, I keep hearing about a racing syndicate comprising a number of local celebrities also hoping to be horse owners.

Of course, they would need a permit to have this happen- Aaron Kwok waited two years for a permit- but with the HKJC making quick inroads into bringing glamour and a new generation of race-goers to racetracks, this should not be a major barrier.

Which celebs will be part of this syndicate? Apart from comedian Eric Tsang whose horse Caga Spirit won the first race at Shatin, that other comedian Natalis Chan simply cos he’s such a berk, Sammo Hung who owns Amber Sky and Aaron Kwok, I hear the names Tony Leung, Stephen Chau and the gorgeous Maggie Cheung being mentioned.

Or are they part of another racing syndicate and with Ronald Cheng, whose old man races horses in Macau and the US also set to join the racing game along with Nicholas Tse.
