There Are Headlines And Then There Are Headlines from the Department Of Cheese: “So butters up Croissant At Sha Tin”.
Oui, mes amis, the sub editor at the SCMP Racing Post went all Last Tango In Paris on readers about the chances of the somewhat ordinary Chris So trained galloper Mr Croissant.
Mr Croissant races at Shatin this afternoon in what is always pretty dire Saturday racing in Hong Kong. A couple of those all-weather races don’t help, especially when the weather is like a soggy, well, croissant. Monsieur Croissant with Frenchman – you were expecting Albanian?- Tony Piccone aboard is drawn barrier 14 and with the highly impressive last start winner Naboo Attack withdrawn, it’s a race that’s quite a buffet of chances.
Though the So So Trainer is “hopeful” of his charger’s chances, try as we may we don’t see it winning. We’ll stick with Trillion Win and Shining Ace.
It’s been a long season, fellas. Pass us a donut, please and let’s not cut the cheese. Have merci. ………
TWO COLTS NO LONGER IN THE KONG?
Recently, there was Edward Sadler, who left the Hong Kong Jockey Club for a gig at racing.com. Mr Ed is apparently just out of quarantine and will make his on-camera debut today at Caulfield.
Meanwhile, good mate and one of the Two Colts In The Kong- Adam Campton, who has something to do with the Club’s New Membership initiatives, is, apparently, on his pony and galloping off to start a career in Oz as a…trainer?
Really? If one is to believe the rumours, there appears to be an exodus of expats from #HKracing beating a hasty retreat to new pastures.
Back in the land of Oz, one understands that quite a few in horse racing’s lower end of the spectrum are leaving to ply their trade in things like real estate, the food and beverage sector, landscape gardening, and, if all else fails, and as if the world needs more of them, being television racing pundits and tipsters.
THE TWO ROBNIES
Some might not agree whereas others think they’re doppelgängers- Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood and venerable Brisbane based jockey Robbie Fradd.
We don’t care either way.

THE PERILS OF THE INSTAFAME GAME, LADIES…
Surely not? Certain wives and girlfriends of horse racing personalities are buying followers on Instagram to Keep Up With The Kardashians? Let’s not even get into the photoshopping- and usually done very badly.
