The new way of looking at horse racing

THE FAST TRACK GUIDE TO BOXING DAY AT HAPPY VALLEY

After one of his cameo appearances, Magic Man Moreira is back on the sidelines serving out a three-day suspension which we really hope will be the last for this season as Hong Kong racing needs the brilliant Brazilian to give it that extra pizazz.

JOAO SHOW 6

Still, as we suspend our thoughts of disbelief and racing without Joao Moreira incurring the wrath of Kim Kahn Kelly, Chief Steward of the HKJC, there are eight races to be run at Happy Valley on this Happy Boxing Day night.

BOXING DAY 1

Of course without the much in-demand Brazilian not riding- sometimes, even three horses at one time- what one needs to figure out are the horses he might have ridden as most are always primed to win.

Also, to be taken into consideration is that after a few winless meetings, The Zac Attack must be having hunger pangs and, well, sharpening his tool of mass destruction.

Others on the sidelines with Christmas pressie suspensions so they can take off for some quick holidays overseas are Olivier Doleuze and Gerard Mosse which robs The Jockey Challenge of its excitement, but could mean winning a little easier. Stop laughing.

BOXING DAY 3

How? By following, mainly, Zac Purton, who really should bang in a number of winners, Dougie Whyte and Tye Angland with Matthew Chadwick and Keith Yeung not to be ignored.

BOXING DAY 4

With Mrs Purton- Nicole Purton- making her debut tonight as co-host of Finding Happy Wednesday, it could be a case of the stars being closely aligned.

CHILDISH JEALOUSY 24

R1 ALL TIME LUCKY/CASA JUNIOR/

MARVEL PLUS/FLYING KEEPER

A lovely Class 5 race to get Boxing Day off the canvass. Thanks, but, no thanks.

BOXING DAY 5

R2 K-MOOCHI

I feel a Zac Attack coming on.

Those for the quinella and tierce- Kids And Wins and Well Done.

BOXING DAY 6

R3 STEP HIGH/DEMOKLES/PERFECT MOMENT/ZACHARY

A tough start to the Six Up which could sink many.

BOXING DAY 7

R4 WINNING MASCOT

Mrs Purton could be squealing at the end of this race.

R5 MAJESTIC ANTHEM/ELECTRONIC FORTUNE

The Cruz Missile should take this out with Majestic Anthem though Electronic Fortune might give it the most to do.

R6 ST YAZIN/EASTERN PROMISE/CHARITY FIRST/SUPER FRESH

Really all about who gets the best break and gets away from the rest.

Sounds simple, doesn’t it? I lean towards another Zac Attack with St Yazin- as in Yassir.

R7 GOLDEN HARVEST

Stepping up a class and should be too good for the competition and can be taken one out in all exotic bets.

Jockey Umberto Rispoli should be sending I Love You hand signals to girlfriend Kimberley Mosse after this race.

BOXING DAY 8

Having said this Tony Cruz, now one year older, has entered an army of four runners with some top riders engaged and which might turn this race into a tactical battle of wits- but love should win out.

BOXING DAY 9

R8 SZECHUAN CHARM/PLEASURE GAINS/PERFECT CHEERS

The team of John Size and Tye Angland have combined successfully this season, and Szechuan Charm should stride to the front and prove hard to run down.

BOXING DAY 10

Having said this, I won’t be leaving out one of my favorite Happy Valley horses in Perfect Cheers. If it wins, it could be a long night and an even longer walk on the wild side with Lou Reed.

THE FAST TRACK GUIDE TO SHATIN 48

BEST BET

Race 5, No. 5 Majestic Anthem

Commanding win two weeks ago. Deserved favourite and hard to go past on that run.

SECOND BEST

Race 8, No. 11 Sichuan Charm

Massive effort to keep on for second despite saddle slipping. Pedigree suggests he should handle trip. Can make amends.

LONGSHOT

Race 6, No. 1 Rocket Let Win

Looks a stack of speed and will get every chance run over the top of them. Worth some thought.
