The new way of looking at horse racing

THE FAST TRACKER AT SHA TIN

That real character Pakistan Star is produced again this afternoon at Sha Tin in the Group 2 Chairman’s Trophy and win, lose or deciding it’s really not worth going around today, he’s a major attraction. Is he a betting proposition? Possibly the day he starts at around 50 to 1. But if hovering around 3’s, forget it. Simply watch the performance artiste on his favourite stage.

The interesting runner is Fifty Fifty though he might need longer whereas Pingwu Spark can’t be ignored. It’s certainly an interesting race with the presence of Pakistan Star giving it an added theatrical element.

As for the Sprint Prize, the winner and most probably the quinella will be between the three John Size runners- Mr Stunning, Beat The Clock and Amazing Kids- while the ongoing battle for the Jockey Premiership between the Zac Attack and the Magic Man might end up with each riding three winners.

After his agonisingly close defeat on race favourite Oohood on Day 1 of The Championships in the Inglis Sires Produce Stakes at Royal Randwick yesterday to rank outsider El Dorado Dreaming ridden by Damien Lane, the Zac Attack might be a tad blunted after a sleepless night.

What more could Zac do after being caught up in traffic, finally seeing daylight before flying at the end on a day when punters were buried by outsiders while complete bollocks being spoken by tipsters probably licking their wounds and trying to figure out how nothing went according to script or form? The excuses and tone said it all.

Meanwhile, we know some who were celebrating after the win of the Mark Zahra ridden and Peter Gelagotis trained Levendi in a wonderful battle with the very game Ace High in the Australian Derby, Redzel and In Her Time losing to Trapeze Artist and the ultra consistent Happy Clapper taking out the Doncaster Mile for popular trainer Pat Webster and jockey Blake Shinn. It was a very lucrative 3×1.

Sha Tin today promises some very good racing with possibly the toughest races being race two, the fifth race and the last where upsets would not surprise. As usual, the Jockey Challenge should be between Joao Moreira and Zac Purton, but leave Nash Rawiller out at your peril.

Below are NOT tips, but merely our suggestions- and everyone is free to take them or flush them down the loo. And if needing to take in the finals of the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens, leave Sha Tin right after the seventh race.
