RACE 10 If it’s been raining favourites up to now and hoping that Six Up ticket is going to pay for something more than a char siu bao, then hope like hell that 2 to 1 favourite and last start winner Harmony Hero (9) gets beaten.
To many, this is unthinkable with the thinking being that the expensive purchase that raced twice in Oz for two impressive wins as Lina’s Hero, should be far too good for this Class 2 field. And maybe they’re right.
With Nash Rawiller retaining the ride on the Richard Gibson trained galloper, The Gnasher should have his ride placed behind the pace and waiting to peel out and finish hard out wide. Well, that’s the ideal scenario. But you know what they say about the best laid plans.
Harmony Hero is drawn barrier 11, and there’s always the possibility of getting caught behind a wall of horses and with a couple out front trying to run him off his feet.
A major danger is Coby Boy, racing up a class after a good second at its last start and with regular rider Keith Yeung aboard and carrying a very light weight. There are other dangers. And though Harmony Hero might be a potentially very good horse, one has to wonder if the dreaded hype machinery has already taken over. The last win was good, but it wasn’t spectacular.
Harmony Hero will most likely win and which will be great for connections, but what do YOU get out of it? A char siu bao? Satisfaction that you backed a 2 to 1 favourite? Whatever makes someone happy. We’re all different.
