As some of you may know, The Handsome Men’s Club was started a few years ago and though, for some reason, George Clooney didn’t make the grade, nor do we think, did Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and other very likely candidates, Sting was voted in along with that incredible bore Matthew McConaughey, Ethan Hawke, Lenny Kravitz, Patrick Dempsey and an exclusive few others.
So, while, there exists- in a very low low key manner, The Good Looking Tennis Players Club led by Maria Sharapova and Rafael Nadal with cameo appearances by part-time player Anna Kournikova whenever she’s not bashing around boyfriend Enrique Iglesias’ balls which has him shrieking, “I like it!”
There’s The Handsome Footballers Club begun by- who else?- David Beckham and The Handsome Cricketers Club with charter members Kevin Pietersen, Mitchell Johnson and Michael Clarke, but there hasn’t been much thought given to The Good Looking Jockeys Club. Until now.
From near and far came the votes along with some serious in-fighting- should Douglas Whyte be allowed in?
No, Shane Dye can’t be an Honouree Member and, yes, Grant Cooksley is rugged, but so is Methuselah etc- and so the debate raged as to who’s in and who’s out and with the current list- in no particular order- being as follows:
Tye Angland who’s talk and, say some, reminds them of Christian Bale.
Kathy O’Hara who the judges thought is racing’s Kylie Minogue- a pocket rocket, on and off the track.
Adam Hyeronimus as he takes after his Mum- Narelle- still a stunner- and his Uncle Neil Paine, who has a certain boyish charm reminiscent of Davy Jones who was with the Monkees.
Tommy Berry was voted in by a landslide due to his sense of style and the incredible way he handles himself, on and off the track.
Joao Moreira was another shoe-in as he exudes that typical Brazilian samba samba ole ole charm and looks good even when wearing the most ugly silks in the world.
Plus he even has his own music video and a theme song released through Universal Music.
Jamie Kah was easily voted in along with fellow female riders Cassandra and Priscilla Schmidt.
Michael Rodd came flying in through votes about his dazzling smile and dancing skills.
There was some argument over whether Christophe Soumillon and Frankie Dettori should be allowed in, but their style power got them in.
Both dress incredibly well and Soumillon wears some of the best jeans we have seen.
As for Frankie, anyone who can get away wearing pink suede boots with a mauve shirt deserves an In.
Hey, he’s Italian and Italians can look good only wearing a pair of socks.
From the US, Rosie Napravanik got an easy inside run as did the ageless Chantal Sutherland- almost the Sharon Stone of the racing world, of course, Hayley Turner from the UK, and Belinda Hodder, who, we must admit we have never heard of, but is EXTREMELY popular with some in Australia.
The most votes, however, went to Aussie jockeys Ruby Ride, Michelle Payne and Sonja Wiseman.
Sandwiched between them was New Zealander James McDonald.
Agree, disagree, add, delete- let us know…
