Tomorrow afternoon at Happy Valley, I’ll be looking at Gerard Mosse winning the Jockeys Challenge.
The only jockey who could give him a fight would be the very much in-form Darren Beadman.
Mosse really is the best jockey riding in Hong Kong and anyone who saw the Frenchman win the Moonee Valley Cup in Melbourne yesterday would agree.
Only an idiot would disagree.

He is the only jockey to have won so many Group 1 races and let’s not forget that he won the Melbourne Cup on Americain last year and could easily repeat that success on the first November in Tuesday at Flemington.

I often wonder how he feels about going from riding some of the best horses in the world to those horses who are lowly rated.
Yes, I have heard that when in a mood, he calls these Class 4 and Class 5 “goats”, but “goats” or gazelles, when on song, no jockey in Hong Kong comes close to Mosse.
He can get off to a winning start by winning on Potential for Caspar Fownes.
If this horse doesn’t win, it will come second though it’s a winner to me.
Mosse has a number of other chances – Goldmen YY for trainer Richard Gibson, Happy Yeah Yeah for Almond Lee and Space Race for Tony Cruz.
What’s interesting to me on a personal point of view are that all these trainers are his bon amis – good friends.
He knows Caspar Fownes from his days when rode for the senior Fownes – Lawrie Fownes.
He rode against Tony Cruz.
He knows Almond Lee from the days when he was Assistant Trainer to David Hayes for whom he rode and he knows Richard Gibson from the trainer’s days in France.
There are a few horses I think will win today – Potential (Race 1), Young Hero (Race 5) and Windicator Power (Race 9).
I really like the quinella in Race 5 of Goldmen YY and Young Hero.
But, for me, it’s all about parlez-vous le Mosse for me!
