FAST FORWARD TO HAPPY WEDNESDAY’S DIGITAL NIGHTS
The Wonder Girls, Psy or Rain won’t be around, but there’ll be plenty of K-Pop, all things Korean- cuisine, the oddly named, but highly entertaining dance troupe from Seoul named Just Jerk, and examples of all the latest technological breakthroughs from the people at Samsung.
This is when Happy Wednesday’s Digital Nights start up on April 13, and continues for the two Wednesdays- April 20th and April 27th. Apart from an appearance by Just Jerk, the final Digital Night will culminate with the inaugural running of the Korea Racing Authority Trophy, a new initiative between the Hong Kong Jockey Club and the Korea Racing Authority.
More on all of this later, so mark your diaries and be ready to be transported to South Korea and, through the ingenuity of Samsung, into virtual and real worlds.
Meanwhile, this Wednesday brings to a close our Wines In The Valley promotion.
And if the huge turnout and non-stop fun was anything to go by led by Carnivale, the new Latino-based resident band at the Beer Garden, get ready for another night of wine, women, men, dancers, lights, camera, racing action, and Sambas, Mambos, Salsas, and all kinds of other rhythms and cracking interactivity.

KEI CHIONG: LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE GIRL!
She has ridden a winner at each of the two race meetings she’s competed in following her comeback after an injury to her hand, and on Wednesday, ten-pound claiming female apprentice Kei Chiong rides at Happy Valley for the first time.
The tight city track is regarded as one of the trickier courses for a jockey to ride, and apprentices must have a certain amount of miles on the board before being considered experienced enough to tackle the Happy Valley Racecourse.
On Wednesday, Kei makes her debut at this track and we wish her the best of luck. On the subject of jockeys, congrats to our good friends Zac Purton for riding a brilliant four timer at Shatin on Sunday, and Joao Moreira for riding his 100th winner of the season. What makes the Magic Man’s feat even more remarkable is that he broke his own record set last year for being the jockey to reach this milestone in the fastest time.

WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO BUMP INTO AT THE BEER GARDEN?
It’s a question that’s been going through our heads for quite a while. But so as not to let subjectivity get in the way, we asked regulars of Happy Wednesday at the Beer Garden. Adrenaline and the Gallery, jockeys, trainers, owners and racing fans, and were surprised at some of the names mentioned.
What we couldn’t take seriously is the jockey who told us the person they would most like to bump into at the Beer Garden would be bloodstock agent George Moore, son of champion trainer John Moore.
The Top Ten Plus 1 from our mini research?
Kanye West: Just imagine the subjects we could tackle! The first question would be, what are you going to do to make up for murdering “Bohemian Rhapsody”, and probably followed up by, How many hours do you spend on Twitter and where do you get the ideas for your tweets?
Leonardo DiCaprio: Certain ladies we know desperately want to see his Oscar. Let’s leave it at that.
Kendall Jenner: Who on earth wouldn’t want to bump into her- anywhere? She’s young, gorgeous and seems refreshingly different to her far more in-your-face siblings.
Gigi Hadid: Model, good friend of Kendall Jenner and equally exquisite.
David Beckham: Imagine being able to kick a ball around the Beer Garden with Becks. Apart from that, who wouldn’t want to meet the world’s most perfect human being?
The Entire Cast of Zoolander: A Best Blue Steel Face Off at the Beer Garden?
Adele: Just to hear her say, Hello.
Faye Wong: So she might act like a diva. That’s fine. She’s entitled to. But just one song at Adrenaline would make our year.
Chris Rock: Just to have him repeat his Oscar’s monologue onstage at the Beer Garden.
Heidi Klum: Just to ask her what made her marry Seal. Then, ask her to come up to Adrenaline so we can sit and worship at her feet.
Johnny Depp: Just to have him sit in with the band at Adrenaline and play guitar. You didn’t know he played guitar?
David Blaine: We have to wonder…will he be able to turn losing tickets into winning tickets? Will this incredible illusionist and one spooky guy be able to tell the outcome of a race before it’s been run? Will he turn the races upside down? Is he even allowed onto a racetrack?

THE HAPPY WEDNESDAY TRENDSETTERS SEARCH
Following on from our Happy Wednesday Fashionistas competition, we’ve moved things up a notch and expanded on the theme with our search for Happy Wednesday’s Trendsetters.
Who have been some trendsetters throughout history? One can, frankly, go all the way back to Thomas Edison. More contemporary trendsetters have included everyone from Kate Moss and Nirvana to Apple and everything the iconic brand has given the world to David and Victoria Beckham.
We’re looking for trendsetters in Hong Kong- designers, musicians, fashionistas, entrepreneurs, and anyone and everything from the creative community.
Our talent scouts will start scouring the Beer Garden, Adrenaline, the paddock area etc for talent whereas you can always write in to Trendsetters@FastTrackHK with reasons why you or someone you know should be seen as a trendsetter.
The search starts on Wednesday, it will last until the end of the this racing season in July, and we’ll be keeping you informed of the guest judges, the very many prizes to be won, and who’s on our leader board and why.
It’s our way of expanding Hong Kong’s creative community and adding some pizazz to it. We look forward to hearing from you and meeting you in person.

CEE LO GREEN AND CHRIS POLANCO: SEPARATED AT BIRTH?
We’ve been hearing just how much singer and multi instrumentalist Chris Polanco with Carnivale, the resident band at the Beer Garden, resembles singer and former judge on The Voice Cee Lo Green. Do you Cee Lo the difference?
This reminded us of the latest craze that seems to have started on Instagram — Faceswapping. There are many versions of these apps available, and the purpose is to, yep, switch/swap “faces” in a photograph. Here’s a gallery of some recent ones we found online:
Bey and Adele
Brad and Angelina
Jayzee and Beyonce
Kim and Kanye
Niki Minaj and Drake
The Obamas
Nightmare (guy switches himself with Barbie)

Racing to win- and having FUN! How it works…
A tip: This can be a fun way to try and win BIG by pooling your resources with friends. The more choices, the bigger the outlay, so take the following as a guide: The Six Up goes from Race 3 to Race 8. If you and your friends pick two horses in each race- 2x2x2x2x2x2- this will cost the team HK$640 for a $10 ticket. Too expensive? Take the Six Up for $5, which will cost you HK$320. Or take it for even $2. The key is to have fun by winning with friends!
