LOVE IS STILL IN THE AIR IN THE YEAR OF THE MONKEY!
Valentine’s Day might have come and gone, but there’s sure to be plenty of love in the air on Happy Wednesday, where we’ll still be celebrating the arrival of the Year of the Monkey.
Yes, there’ll be the obligatory lion dances, banging of gongs, fortune telling and laisee packets being passed around, but love is what you make of it, and Happy Valley Racecourse has been quite a romantic meeting place for many over the years. We’ve even known couples who have had informal Happy Wednesday engagements and weddings at the track- both at the Beer Garden and Adrenaline, the slightly more upmarket club on the Second Floor via Entrance C. And following the Grammy Awards yesterday, there’ll be plenty of music to go with all the love- songs made famous by Taylor Swift, Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd and others performed by the band MOREira at the Beer Garden featuring Rita Thai, below, and the fabulous Jennifer Palor Band at Adrenaline.
On the racing front, making his final appearance at Happy Valley before leaving after Sunday’s Shatin meeting will be popular Brazilian jockey, and charter member of The Handsome Jockeys Club- Silvestre de Sousa, pictured below at Adrenaline with the brilliant Ryan Moore.
We’re also tipping that young Glyn Schofield who rode a winner on Valentine’s Day will have his very pretty girlfriend Hannah Butler, who’s currently visiting town, see what Happy Wednesday is all about- but ensuring she’s kept well away from the posse of lecherous Lotharios out there!

WRITE A CAPTION FOR THIS AND WIN A DINNER FOR TWO AT ADRENALINE…
Above is Hong Kong’s most popular Rock Guitarzan- Jay, who’s the main man behind the resident band at the Beer Garden- MORE-ira. The photograph was taken on the weekend at a music festival at Discovery Bay.
That’s all well and good, but what on earth is he doing in the photograph at the top? Drinking his guitar? Channeling Jimi Hendrix? Write a caption for it and the one judged the funniest will win a dinner for two at the HKJC’s upmarket venue Adrenaline. Send captions to info@fasttrack.hk.

Racing to win- and having FUN! How it works…
A tip: This can be a fun way to try and win BIG by pooling your resources with friends. The more choices, the bigger the outlay, so take the following as a guide: The Six Up goes from Race 3 to Race 8. If you and your friends pick two horses in each race- 2x2x2x2x2x2- this will cost the team HK$640 for a $10 ticket. Too expensive? Take the Six Up for $5, which will cost you HK$320. Or take it for even $2. The key is to have fun by winning with friends!
