TURNING JAPANESE AT LAST WEEK’S HAPPY WEDNESDAY
If you weren’t at Happy Valley Racecourse last Wednesday, you would have missed out on all the activities shown above, but don’t worry: Turning Japanese continues this- and next Wednesday. Use your creativity to have a chance to win a Trip For Two To Japan. Enjoy all the Japanese cuisine available.
Come dressed in a kimono. Or really turn Japanese, and make heads turn by appearing at the races as Hello Kitty, Pokemon, Pikachu, a “makeup band” like Japan’s Spitz, or a Samurai warrior.
Anything goes- especially anything Japanese!

WHY JOCKEY ZAC PURTON IS A HAPPY WEDNESDAY FAN…
Up for grabs: The Six Up Jackpot with a carry-over of OVER HK$2 MILLION as there was no winner last Wednesday. Expect the Six Up to reach over HK$5 MILLION!
Remember how the Six Up works: Your picks must come first OR second in the last six races, starting from Race 3. If your picks win all six races, you would have won the million dollar jackpot mentioned above.
The more you invest, the more chances to win, so why not pool your resources with friends and try your luck? Trying their luck this Happy Wednesday will be the resident band at the Beer Garden- MORE-ira featuring singer Rita Thao- and the Jennifer Palor Band at Adrenaline. Who’ll win?
Follow us on Twitter @HappyHVFans to see how they’re doing!

TEETAN REACHES MILESTONE
We asked if Karis Teetan would ride his 100th winner in Hong Kong last Wednesday- and he did- though not on the horse most racing fans thought he would.
The popular Mauritian jockey won last week’s first race on Master Viking by leading all the way whereas his ride on hot favourite Pearl Warm Warm lived up to its name: It never got warm warm!

FOR A CHANGE OF PACE: ADRENALINE AT HAPPY VALLEY RACECOURSE
Of course, the Beer Garden with its cosmopolitan regulars and tourists blending in, various activities and ‘live’ music with horse racing underneath the stars in one of the most unique racecourses in the world, is the centrepiece of a Happy Wednesday evening, but for a change of pace, remember Adrenaline.
This upmarket, but unpretentious club catering to those who wish to take in the races in an inter-active setting with great ‘live’ music from the Jennifer Palor Band- easily the best singer in Hong Kong- an excellent buffet, conveniently located betting counters, Racing Specialists to help you with any questions plus a balcony offering a stunning view of the races, is truly a venue that must be visited. A good time will be had by all. Promise.

JOCKEY TO WATCH: SILVESTRE DE SOUSA
The Brazilian Magic Man and champion jockey Joao Moreira might still be suspended, but another Brazilian will be seen at Happy Valley on Wednesday. His name? Silvestre de Sousa, the UK’s Champion Jockey of last season, who began his short riding stint in Hong Kong on Saturday with a winner.

OMEN BET OF THE DAY
There is a strange sense of déjà-vu here as last week’s Omen Bet- Golden Chopsticks- lines up again- and, like last week, again in the last race of the night.
Last Wednesday, there wasn’t anything Golden about the Chopsticks as it finished a disappointing sixth. But for the horse to race again so soon must mean it’s still fit. And as Golden Chopsticks (Race 8, Number 2) loves the Happy Valley track, this might be a golden opportunity to use your noodle, and end the night on a winning note.

Racing to win- and having FUN! How it works…
A tip: This can be a fun way to try and win BIG by pooling your resources with friends. The more choices, the bigger the outlay, so take the following as a guide: The Six Up goes from Race 3 to Race 8. If you and your friends pick two horses in each race- 2x2x2x2x2x2- this will cost the team HK$640 for a $10 ticket. Too expensive? Take the Six Up for $5, which will cost you HK$320. Or take it for even $2. The key is to have fun by winning with friends!
