READY, SET- IT’S THE HAPPY WEDNESDAY CARNIVALE OF ACTION
Back in the day, the group Lovin Spoonful sang about “hot time, Summer In The City” and about “how the girls look so fine and look so pretty”. Later, the legendary Sly And The Family Stone sang about “Hot Fun In The Summertime”, whereas before that, Mungo Jerry had a massive Number One hit with “In The Summertime”, and lest one forgets, there’s “Summertime” and how “livin’ is easy” from “Porgy And Bess”.
Summer has always been a recurring theme in music and for good reason. Summer is about sun, fun and simply enjoying life. And starting this Happy Wednesday, we’re turning up the heat with three hot nights of Carnivale Of Action- hot Latino music at the Beer Garden by, who else, but the usual gang comprising the band Carnivale, hot Brazilian dancers, red hot horse racing, and all the fun of a Carnivale as time for the Olympics in Rio fast approaches.
This fun includes a virtual game called Kinect. And it has to be seen to be believed. Writing about Kinect would not do the game- and experience- the justice it deserves. It’s also part of that Happy Wednesday inter-activity that brings Hong Kong together.

WINNING AND WINNERS AT ADRENALINE
There were three parties at Adrenaline last month before the short Happy Wednesday break. There was the recently-started After Race Party that now starts at 10pm with no admission charges, plus a belated birthday party for the venue’s resident singer Jennifer Palor, definitely Hong Kong’s best and most popular singer.
This girl works hard for the money, she’s the consummate professional and has played a major role in making Adrenaline the hugely popular venue that it’s become.
The biggest party though was for the regular at Adrenaline- a writer and music industry personality well-known to Hong Kong’s jockeys, trainers and racing executive- who hit the Six Up Bonus. For an outlay of less than a thousand dollars, he won just over a cool million.
Things got tense when his winning ticket had one selection in the last two legs- Golden Sleep and Lucky Years.
Thankfully, ridden by Karis Teetan and Joao Moreira, respectively, both delivered whereas we understand the celebrations ended on Saturday.
It starts up again on Wednesday at Adrenaline. And it could well be on a winning note.

Happy Wednesday on Racing.com in Australia this week!
The internationalization of the Happy Wednesday brand takes another important step in Australia this week with the first direct telecast of the entire race meeting on both free-to-air and pay television on the dedicated Victorian racing channel – Racing.com.
In another first, and as part of the arrangement with the Hong Kong jockey Club, Racing.com will also produce its own preview and review programmes of the race meetings at both venues – Happy Valley and Shatin-from its studios in Melbourne. Hosts for the programme are well know Hong Kong racing identity Clint Hutchinson, below, who is now based in Melbourne as part of the Racing.com broadcast team, and local host Shane Anderson.
It is expected that the enhanced coverage – Hong Kong races will continue to be shown through the three-channel Sky network on Pay TV operator Sky Racing- will boost wagering turnover and produce positive results for the co-mingling arrangement between the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the Victorian racing industry and its joint venture wagering partner Tabcorp. It just could even lead to some breakthroughs in content on Wednesdays appealing to the loyal Happy Wednesday female-driven customer demographic, who, though enjoying winning at the sport through their unique reasons for placing a bet- lucky numbers, colours of silks, the Girl Power of Kei Chiong, nuts for Brazilian Joao Moreira etc- are most definitely not hardcore racing tragics.
In Hong Kong, this is starting to be seen with the on-course cross-promotion of the recently launched After Party at Adrenaline to the thousands of regulars at the Beer Garden, something which will definitely be of interest to visitors from Oz to Hong Kong- and the races- on a pretty regular basis.
