MORE C’EST SI BON AT HAPPY WEDNESDAY
This Happy Wednesday sees the last of three C’est Si Bon French promotion nights. One can only hope the weather gods will smile down on Happy Valley Racecourse like they did last week, and that we’ll have the same Happy vibe that made everything last week- le joie de vivre of the French entertainers at the Beer Garden, the party atmosphere at Adrenaline, the quality and excitement of the racing which can be enjoyed up close and personal, and the great interactivity of people meeting people- all come together at the most popular mid-week meeting spot in Hong Kong! C’est si bon, indeed, mes amis! And how many were on-course last Wednesday? Well over 16,000 people! And that’s a whole heap of joie de vivre!

THE AFTER RACE PARTY AT ADRENALINE
This starts from 10pm and continues at Adrenaline until an hour after the last race has been run. Admission is FREE, there’s the great sounds of the Jennifer Palor Band and you’ll never know who might feel the music running through them and take over the dance floor!

RANDOM NOTES TO OURSELVES
* Write to James Corden about Carpool Karaoke with Sir Paul McCartney. Now THIS would wipe out every other Carpool Karaoke!
* Put together a band for the Beer Garden featuring Zac Purton, Joao Moreira, Neil Callan, Karis Teetan and Chad Schofield and name them Jockitch Cocktail.
* Somehow win this jacket off Twittering Tommy Berry’s back!
*Why can’t we have a series of Happy Wednesday Music Concerts? Gawd knows, Hong Kong is starved of seeing good international acts- and not necessarily all the big ones that perform in the casinos in Macau for the big bucks. James Bay, anyone? The always underrated Starsailor? We have a list.
* Invite Kendall Jenner, Weeknd, James Bay, for one huge After Race jam session with the Jennifer Palor Band. Kendall Jenner can just stand there and look like this.
*Neil Callan’s idea to bring The Feel Good and Can Do factors back to Hong Kong: Stage a horse race on Astro turf down Central. Genius.

THE BRILLIANCE OF ZAC PURTON
If relatively new or completely new to horse racing, and wish to know what is an exceptional piece of riding by a jockey, we suggest watching this video of Zac Purton winning at Happy Valley Racecourse last Wednesday on Back In Black.
Those who really know their horse racing are calling it The Ride Of The Season. We agree. For Purton to see what was going on in front of him, and where horses in the lead were hard to rundown, keep his patience and then coax his equine friend to go where few horses would dare to go, was and is a masterclass in riding.
Still with racing, the three jockeys to follow, apart from Aussie Purton, the brilliant Brazilian Joao Moreira, and Hong Kong racing’s pinup girl Kei Chiong, who rode another double on Saturday, are Derek Leung, Vincent Ho, Chad Schofield and Keith Yeung.
The Mauritian Magician Karis Teetan has hit a bit of a slow patch. But he’s far too good and competitive a rider to be away from the winner’s enclosure for long. He’ll be back with a bang- and soon- as will tough, competitive Irishman Neil Callan, below. currently serving out a suspension.
