With Joao Moreira soon to start a two meeting suspension after pleading guilty to a careless riding charge after The Charge Of The Light Brigade last race on Saturday, the magic man needs to pull a few rabbits out of his sombrero tonight, the last night of Happy Wednesday Goes French. Can he do it? Very possibly. But stalking him is The Zac Attack who really could ride the last three winners of the night- and maybe even a couple of bonuses. Have merci!
Yes, Zac Purton looks to have the stronger book of rides, but this is horse racing and often nothing goes according to script. If looking for any flies in the ointment, don’t leave out the rides by the three apprentice riders going around the idiosyncratic city track tonight- Matthew Poon, Jack Wong and Victor Wong who makes his debut at Happy Valley tonight. With their weight allowances and some decent barriers, they could hit the front and just keep going and going and going like that Eveready rabbit.
RACE 1
I’m A Witness with Joao Moreira aboard will probably start favourite. And though contesting a Class 5 race by racing down a class, it could lead but then just as quickly get overhauled. We’ll take a chance on Douglas Whyte’s ride General O’Reilly that’s been looking very good on the track. Either that or cherchez la femme at The Beer Garden. Whatever turns you on. Oui?

Not as easy as it looks whereas research shows that the favourite rarely wins this race- the first leg of the Six Up.

RACE 8
This looks like a race between the Magic Man and the Zac Attack. Take them as a straight quinella and have a smaller bet by boxing these two with a couple of outsiders. These last races at Happy Valley have a habit of throwing up some wobbly results that come out of nowhere.
