Tim Clark has been one of the real success stories of Hong Kong racing albeit in an understated way. He lets his winners do the talking for him and which is why he is getting more and more rides from different stables.
We know Tim pretty well and one thing we respect about him is his loyalty.
He has and will not forget trainers like David Ferraris, John Moore and Richard Gibson, each of whom have given him rides with winning chances and not no-hopers to get their ratings down and which some trainers do so transparently, they should be fined.
Every horse running in a race should have been entered to WIN- and not just to jog around to enjoy the view.
Those horses should have zero backing from race-goers which will show trainers and owners that indulge in this game that it takes two to tango and just making up the numbers, something which grab the attention and incur the wrath of the Stewards, will not be tolerated.
It’s high time trainers receive the same type of scrutiny as jockeys. Often, jockeys are hired help and riding to orders and should never be left holding the ball.
As for Tim Clark aka The Hobbit ‘cos of his lack in inches, at least when it comes to height, he and another kinda newcomer in trainer Richard Gibson, a sorcerer when it comes to turning around the form of what might have seemed to be an average horse, have built up a great relationship and which has, for example, seen comedian Eric Tsang’s Caga Spirit win three races in a row- and with great ease.
We thought this horse would never win a race, but the sorcerer that is Gibson has rejuvenated it and The Hobbit knows exactly how to ride it.
On Sunday at Happy Valley- NOT Shatin- following a very dull all-weather meeting at Shatin on Wednesday, Gibson and Clark team up with Diamond Elegance in Race 9 which has drawn perfectly in barrier one.
A last-start winner which has beaten the impressive Tour De Force, Diamond Elegance has an excellent chance to repeat its last success and keep the flag flying high for this very successful team.
