The Most Interesting Characters In Horse Racing

This was a tough one, and so many with their own thoughts and many wanting to vote for themselves with bots. This might work on Instagram and where numbers are seemingly plucked out of thin air- or somewhere like Bangalore- but not here.

Like our introduction of The Handsome Men’s Horse Racing Club and The Mature Men’s Horse Racing Club, the voting is going to be relentless and heavy handed and with many sulking at not having made the list.

However, like People Magazine’s 50,000 Sexiest People In The World, in order to truly honour being interesting, having fabulousness and attractiveness on a truly Fabio type global scale, the voting system will be led by integrity and respect with the occasional donations to our favourite charities not going unappreciated.

What exactly makes someone in Horse Racing Interesting other than the obvious? You tell us, or your votes will guide us.

Having only just started accepting official voting for The Most Interesting Characters In Horse Racing, we’re kinda seeing where some of you might be coming from. And though we may, from time to time, raise our eyebrows and our Desmond tutus, this is just us. It’s the squillions of you out there who matter. And some of you are so out there, you’re in The Far Side.

Though being interesting is in the eye of the beholder, here’s how our leaderboard for The Most Interesting People In Horse Racing stands right now...

Nathalie Fradd

Mauritian born and attractive wife of one-time champion Hong Kong Jockey Robbie Fradd, she is equal parts raconteur, fashionista, the Queen of Doomben horse racing, and maker of the Fradd Tai brand of helluva spicy chilli oils, which gives hubby that get up and go that has him still riding winners.

------------------------------

James Cummings

Australia’s horse trainer for Godolphin, doppelgänger for actor Tom Cruise, Grandson of the legendary Cups King Bart Cummings and with a seemingly never ending line of Group 1 gallopers led by the brilliant Animo.

------------------------------

Simon and Eleanor Kwok

Simply put, they are extremely rich. They have their own building, own the fabulously successful SaSa beauty line and all those Beauty horses that race at almost every race day in Hong Kong.

A self-made success story- and more power to them. And if Lady Eleanor wishes to wear a big cake on her head, it shows supreme confidence and not giving two SaSa hoots what anyone thinks. Love it!

------------------------------

Zac Purton

Champion Hong Kong Jockey and social media Influencer.

Who else in racing can go from being a “rat bag” from Coffs Harbour with little or no education to riding camels- not slow horses, but the humpy kind- in Dubai to taking up falconry and having a Michelin Star chef at his beck and call? Plus he knows a Mimosa from a samosa.

------------------------------

Pakistan Star

Former charismatic race horse who refused to play the game and, well, race. The handsome man is now happily enjoying his retirement at Living Legends where he’s helping those who need it to find the magic in life again.

------------------------------

Gary Moore

When talking of real characters in horse racing, one name cannot be left out- Gary Moore.

What’s often forgotten is that here is a former champion jockey in France and seven time Hong Kong champion jockey- and not someone who’s lost a few marbles along the way.

He’s won nearly every major race in Europe including the L’Arc De Triomphe. He is also the youngest son of legendary Australian jockey-turned Trainer George Moore.

Though prone to some rather outré moments at racecourses in Hong Kong, Australia and Macau, we wouldn’t have him any other way.

At a time when horse racing is seeing a massive changing of the guard, and which, hopefully, will see some semblance of fun brought into the pastime instead of pretentiousness and tedious old school politics, one needs personalities like Gazza- and the new generation of Gazzas.

Where’s Gazza today? That like asking, Where’s Waldo or Carmen Santiago.

FASTTRACK

The new way of looking at horse racing

The world of entertainment today is vast, it cannot be defined, it is intertwined and has become one. One cannot, for example, have music without fashion- and vice versa. Rock Stars, supermodels, actors and actresses and sports heroes have formed Mutual Admiration Societies.

On www.fasttrack.hk, you will see Who’s In, Who’s Out, What’s Hot and What’s Not- in Hong Kong and the rest of the world- in English and Chinese. It’s all ballsy stuff that breaks new ground and tells it like it is. The gloves are off.

Fast Track is the authority and driving force to steer you along the edgy road to this new world of entertainment.. Of course, there will be our opinions- off-the-wall, to-the-point and no waffle.

More important to us is what you think. Really think. Agree, disagree, or tell us to take a hike. As long as it’s a hike on the fast track of life, it doesn’t matter.
