The new way of looking at horse racing

THE NEW YEAR MUSICAL ISSUE

This the time for giving and we’d like to give some more than others. But as we walk through life’s uneasy path with a song in our hearts and often shit for brains, here are songs for those in racing who made the news in 2012- for better or for worse.

NEW YEAR SONGS FOR SOME RACING PERSONALITIES 1

The team at Racingbitch, December 31, 2012

………………………….

To Zac Purton, Dougie Whyte and now, Blake Ryan for making fingering in racing go viral, TWO epic songs to go with the two finger salute.

NEW YEAR SONGS FOR SOME RACING PERSONALITIES 2

Soul Finger

………………………….

To Weichong Marwing whenever he gets hungry and goes looking for something to nibble on.

NEW YEAR SONGS FOR SOME RACING PERSONALITIES 3

Chocolate Balls by Chef from South Park

To all of Hong Kong’s Indian owners whenever their horses win and thoughts of the now bankrupt and closed Le Kage Club crosses their minds.

NEW YEAR SONGS FOR SOME RACING PERSONALITIES 3a

Goodness Gracious Me by Peter Sellers and Sophia Loren

To Caspar Fownes who walks with a spring in his step whenever the Windicator is turned on.

Walk This Way by Aerosmith and RDMC

Dark Horse Song Tip for Race 10 on Jan 1, Shatin from unknown punter who, we can only guess, purchased it. Personally, we think the horse is crap and has shown squat in his trackwork and trials.

NEW YEAR SONGS FOR SOME RACING PERSONALITIES 4a

………………………….

To those masochistic hosts of the HKJC’s Trackside and Racing To Win programmes who get off the canvass against all odds only to be knocked down again, this quite mad song.

NEW YEAR SONGS FOR SOME RACING PERSONALITIES 5

………………………….

To the Racing NSW Stewards led by Headmaster Ray Murrihy and bon ami of our old mate Kieron Fallon.

NEW YEAR SONGS FOR SOME RACING PERSONALITIES 6

………………………….

To racing pundit, chatterbox and racing raconteur extraordinaire David Raphael

NEW YEAR SONGS FOR SOME RACING PERSONALITIES 7

………………………….

To the Japanese Stewards for their consistent inconsistencies:

NEW YEAR SONGS FOR SOME RACING PERSONALITIES 8

………………………….

To our old mate David “Darth Vader” Ferraris for every time the fuse has got shorter, something that rocks for his head.

NEW YEAR SONGS FOR SOME RACING PERSONALITIES 9

………………………….

To every Ponzi scheme in racing where punters are jive talked and scammed.

NEW YEAR SONGS FOR SOME RACING PERSONALITIES 10

………………………….

To those jockeys including a couple of legends and others being legends in their own lunch time, this ditty from Babs.

NEW YEAR SONGS FOR SOME RACING PERSONALITIES 11

………………………….

To Francesca Cumani for being Francesca Cumani.

NEW YEAR SONGS FOR SOME RACING PERSONALITIES 12

………………………….

On a more serious note, let’s remember all those jockeys who had horrific falls recently and those who have been able to walk away from these and others less fortunate.

At the end of the day, it’s only racing and we can whinge about bad rides and talk through our pockets, but we are all doing the best we can in whatever we do.

We are all part of the human race first and foremost and my personal wish for 2013 is to do my part to try and straighten out this crazy, fucked up world filled with angry kids with guns and that horrible tragedy in New Delhi involving a young girl who could have been any one of our daughters.

The politicians have no answers as things have got so out of hand through lax gun laws and criminals hiding behind “freedom of speech” which our world leaders have endorsed and unleashed on society.

The result is a time and place and where family values are no longer a priority and anything goes- free porn, violent video games, misogynistic music videos glorying violence and materialism, unreal “reality” shows and a wasteland of untalented people like the Kardashians being allowed- allowed- to become stars through a media where serious news has become entertainment. And which the world buys into along with those with fragile minds.

A black man in the White House talking about hope and change was a nice novelty act in 2008 and following the real axis of evil under Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld. That hope and change hasn’t worked. It’s become chump change and we have been short-changed.

These people called “world leaders” have not worked.

Today, the true leaders of this world start with you, me, friends and families and restoring life’s priorities in what we do and say and whatever other ways we can.

We have given way too much power for way too long to those who are powerless or have been corrupted by power.

It would be brilliant if a group of racing fans plus the global racing community comprising human beings can help turn things around and get us back on track.

This is being a real winner in that race called Life.

A New and Happy Year to all.
