We must admit that The Three Amigos were still having a long siesta on Wednesday and can’t even remember what happened except that Whisky turned to Whiskey Sour to many, and all hell broke loose during race six where everyone got confused as to who won. Que? What did he say?
Same when listening to the January Cup, where it could have been The April Fools Cup. Let’s erase from our minds that this meeting ever happened. It’s like El Ricardo Montalban Gibson wanting to forget this season ever happened. When it rains it pours emails and muchos problemos. The Three Amigos would only like to say a little prayer and a big swig of tequila that one of the few new additions to his stable- Who Dat Singa- wins the HK Derby.
The connections are so excited about this happening that they’ve probably already arranged for Julio Iglesias and Menudo to perform at their La Vida Loca celebration party.
As for today, El Zaco is riding like a hot burrito with extra salsa sauce, and has now gone YEEEE HAAAAA and ridden nine winners in three meetings. Not to put le mockerena and Mambo Número 5 on him, but The Three Amigos think he can ride another 3-4 winners this afternoon. Let’s do the Mexican Hat Dance to that.
Everyone, especially our Italian amigo Alessandro, who’s the owner and chef of our favourite Italiano cantina Da Domenico where his special Scampi Pasta is very mama mia, thinks Beauty Generation will be one of El Zaco’s winners today in the muchos interesting last race of the day. We’re not that sure. But what do we know? We do know there’s no speed in this race, and this very good horse that’s aimed for much bigger things just might be caught wide from his barrier and finish on the outside after the race has been run.
Of course, many will think the Three Amigos are talking loco, but at around even money, we’re prepared to, how you say, take it on like Charo in a bullfight. We think Simply Invincible (1) can beat him, and for a muchos humongous upset, don’t forget Happy Place. Also don’t forget El Chado. After a long siesta in Margaritaville with Jimmy Buffet, El Chado will want to make up for lost time and has good chances throughout the day. Let’s do another Mexican Hat Dance to that! Olé!
RACE 1 11-7-5-12
Frankly, we’ll be at Hay Market stuffing our faces with the venue’s excellent Japanese buffet, and might dabble in a small quartet bet, because, as they say, don’t spend all your money in one place or one race, and this race could see anything win- even something not running. We call this The Class 5 Paul Lally Handicap.
RACE 2 10-9-8-3
Whoever conquers Everest should win this.
RACE 3 5-2-1-3
There’ll be plenty of cheering if Bad Boy (5) were to win, especially as one of the owners is actor Donnie Yen, currently receiving rave reviews for his role in the latest Star Wars movie Rogue One. This just might give El Chado a welcome back winner with the hardest to beat looking like being Amazing Kids (2).
RACE 4 3-7-8-12
What is a Flying Godspell (3) even though he should win this with Señor Joao aboard.
RACE 5 11-2-8-12
With this being the first leg of the Six Up, and there being a jackpot, often, getting over this hurdle can be a difficult task with many obstacles in the way. Be careful about sticking only with the favourites. They might all go POOF and leave you with nada.
RACE 6 3-8-9-14
We really can’t have the favourite McHappy Meal combos. This race could be a big whang dang doodle of an upset.
RACE 7 2-4-6-1
This should go according to the script. Should.
RACE 8 10-2-7-14
Beware the Ides Of March, and Beware The Results of this race!
RACE 9 5-6-8-1
Should be an El Zaco and Señor Joao finish.
RACE 10 6-1-2-13
Beauty Generation (2) should win this, but we’re looking at Happy Place (6) giving us a Happy Ending.
BEST BET Race 7: Money Boy (2)
NEXT BEST Race 9 quinella: Star Of Yan Oi (5)/Arizona Blizzard (6)
LONGSHOT Race 10: Happy Place (6)
SIX UP R5: 2-5-6-8-10-11 R6: 3-4-9-14 R7: 2 R8: 2-7-10 R9: 5-6 R10: 1-2-6
