EDWARD SNOWDEN, THE RACE HORSE?
(Source: Heavy)
American whistleblower and vastly overrated media celebrity Edward Snowden has certainly put Hong Kong and the Mira Hotel (he stayed there while hiding out here) on the map by somehow deciding that this city would be the first to hear about all the hacking going on by the US both here and the China.
(Source: Adelto)
Of course, this is not exactly riveting news but it has made the Obama Administration recoil in horror, put on a brave front and huff and puff and try to blow Hong Kong’s house down for not turning over the new Benedict Arnold.
(Source: Daily FX)
With The Snowden Saga now in the hands of our old mate Vlads Putin, even our beleaguered and bumbling Chief Executive CY Leung has been made to look as if he has enormous gonads and with Hong Kong standing up to the US armed only with a catapult- and winning.
(Source: Tuomaskorpi)
With all this going on, we’re hoping someone names their new horse Edward Snowden.
Gawd knows, we have enough of dumbass English names for horses- King Of Fish, Good Looking Watch and all those with golden and treasures to their names.
(Source: Costarica Journeys)
So, imagine the PR of naming a horse Edward Snowden, the horse being discussed by the Trio Los Amigos, the race call about Edward Snowden taking an inside run etc.
(Source: Fun Cheap)
Perhaps there could even be an Edward Snowden Cup- and presented by CY Leung?
Now, in our books, THIS is marketing!

STRAIGHT FROM THE HORSE’S MOUTH.
South African jockey Richard Fourie surprised many by deciding to turn his back on Hong Kong dispute a great rookie season and return to his home country and a job which he has described as “too good to pass up.”
(Source: Sina)
However, many in SA tell us the young rider is “mad” to return to the country and all the traveling and the crippling taxes.
Time will tell.

ENTOURAGE
(Source: Entertainment Wallpaper)
We had to revive Sarika and the rest of our entourage as the wheels off the expected Caspar Fownes-Zac Purton Big Cleanup blew apart with only The Prince giving followers a tiny bone to feed on.
(Source: TQN)
For today’s races, Sarika has been poring over who’s riding what and the horses entered with fresh legs and who, like the rest of us, are suffering from the end of the season blues.

CAPTAIN SPARROW
(Source: HD Wallpapers Images)
Still on the high seas and trying to reunify his patchy luck with wenches, our Captain Sparrow says he’s heard that today at SHATIN will be a very good day for Cruz-ing and to also watch out for HAYHAY (RACE 2,7), a first starter for Peter Ng and to be ridden by Tommy Berry.
And like The Fast Tracker, he, too, has no time for AUTUMN GOLD (race 11,2) and prefers POETIC JUSTICE (Race 11,6) by far.

THE FAST TRACKER ON REUNIFICATION DAY.
Watching singer-songwriter Ben Semmens fist-pump HKJC CEO Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges and call him “dude” at Adrenaline, was a fitting end to a very surreal Happy Wednesday.
This was the day that started off with the news that trainer John Moore, the King of the D Cups, would be granted a “stay of execution” and can carry on collecting more cups regardless of the compulsory retirement age of 65.
(Source: MJC)
Frankly, it doesn’t bother me either way. As long as someone can train winners and have the support of owners, fine. And Moore has both.
But, say some, this is unfair to a trainer like Peter Ng, who, in his last year of training before facing that compulsory retirement age is having his best season ever and also has the support of owners- new and old.
(Source: Next Media)
So, they ask, why can’t Peter Ng be afforded the same rights as John Moore? Or is there preferential treatment being given and with two sets of rules in place?
(Source: The Bullvine)
Again, this is something for the racing writers to delve into and for trainers to chew the cud over and think things through.
As a racing enthusiast, all I care about are those horses in some stables which I wouldn’t touch with a barge pole as they have trouble even taking their places in a race, let alone running a place. Their runners are just an unnecessary nuisance, especially when a good jock is booked to ride them.
(Source: Sina)
So, to me, regardless of age in ANY industry, if someone is delivering, let them continue to deliver and simply cut the losers from the herd and look at younger Sydney trainers like Bjorn Baker and, especially, Joe Pride.
(Source: Punters Paradise)
With some in the racing fraternity mighty pissed off at the John Moore news- and the timing of the release- others like myself, were putting all our eggs into the Caspar Fownes basket and expecting at least three wins from the King Of Happy Valley and a riding treble from Zac Purton who was back in the saddle and “fit as a daisy” after laser surgery to remove some kidney stones.
(Source: Oriental Daily)
Alas, weary is the head that wears the crown and all the “good things” of the night, bit the dust- one after the other. It became monotonous to watch- and also depressing. There’s nothing worse that expecting a big night at the races and it ending in bad revenge sex.
(Source: Migrant-rights)
Only The Prince prevailed whereas Wednesday’s forgotten man- Douglas Whyte- rode a double and galloped off with the Jockeys Challenge with his win on Red Charger in the last, giving John Size the gun run at the trainers premiership.
(Source: HKJC)
As for the card for Handover Day and races with names like The High Autonomous Handicap,The Harmonious Handicap and The Reunification Cup, the last race looks extremely competitive and will see turnover go through the roof.
The one that has me excited is Poetic Justice which has the in-form and just woken up Gerard Mosse on its back for the first time.
When Mosse decides he’s not riding “ze goats”, he really is one of the best in the world and is well worth following in the Jockey Challenge along with Matty Chadwick.
(Soource: Yahoo)
Also in the race is one of my hoodoo horses- the Sean Woods-trained Autumn Gold which has Dougie Whyte taking the ride again despite one disappointing run after the other. Why, Dougie, why? I just can’t have it today either despite taking a class drop.
(Source: Extreme Experts)
Strangely, with Whyte on this non-winner, Brett Prebble rides John Size’s Endowing in this, the Serving The Community Handicap.
Who comes up with these NAMES of races???
Reunification or no reunification, let’s just be grateful that Hong Kong’s dithering and doddering Chief Executive- the mightily unpopular CY Leung- will not be at the track which means the chorus of abuse known as the “Diiiiiuuuus” will be hurled at some poor jock.
That’s racing and that’s Hong Kong.

TODAY’S SELECTIONS FOR SHA TIN (FROM @SW064351 – THE BIG APPLE)
(Source: The Kichen Whisperer)
BEST BET
Race 7, No. 6 Hypersonic
Flew home smartly two weeks ago despite dropping far back early. Wide draw is a concern but looks destined for greater things.
SECOND BEST
Race 8, No. 9 Slick Bullet
Returns to his favorite distance and with the gun run and a light weight, is the one they have beat.
LONGSHOT
Race 11, No. 1 Endowing
Win over Poetic Justice two starts back was cozier than the margin suggests. Has an excellent record over the course/distance and will be running on once again.
