It was a VERY good day for us on Sunday! Why? Well, after a slow start, our man in The Big Apple is hitting his straps and was bang on with his Best Bet and Longshot.

Third Dividend from Oz tipped six winners including 20 to 1 pop Dane Patrol, while our young Entourage hit the Six Up.
The Fast Tracker was on song as usual with eight winners and our Captain Jack Sparrow dined on his juicy value bet- Peri Peri Saffron.

Tonight? More of the same, we hope.

ENTOURAGE
Sarika, Justin and Natalie came agonizingly close to grabbing the $100,000 plus Six Up Bonus but still ended up on top when they grabbed a few Six Up Consolation tickets.
The horse that thwarted their big win was when Tye Angland on Sparkling B just got the better of Gerard Mosse on Super Jockey. We’ve never heard so much shrieking in a long time. And that was just Tye.

So, on a roll, Sarika and gang have selected the following Six Up.

CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW
The good Captain got his pirates going overboard when PERI PERI SAFFRON came through while his second value bet- HONG KONG DANCER- came with a huge run in the last race and just failed to run a place.
(Source: HD Wallpapers Images)
Tonight, his spies tell him that Capitan Caspar is the trainer to follow along with jockey Zac Purton with the value bets being WINE SONGS (r2,4) to place where GREAT ALEXANDER will win and to watch out for the David Ferraris pair of SECRETARY OF STATE and BURGUNDY MAC in race 5. And if these come in, Ho Ho and a bottle of rum!

THE FAST TRACKER ON HAPPY WEDNESDAY AT HAPPY VALLEY
Before anything else, a big SHOUT OUT to some unsung heroes in local racing: All those hard-working and incredibly patient telebet operators manning the phones every race day and all the staff working in every off-course betting centers.
(Source: HKJC)
These are thankless jobs, someone’s gotta do it and, thankfully, these admirable people do it- and with such affable personalities.
Just think about sitting for hours on end, taking down numbers, all the different combinations and permutations, taking bets just before the off and being abused if the race starts etc and one has to admire the training that has gone into getting this staff to this level of perfection and how much importance they place on their jobs.
(Source: HKJC)
The mere thought of sitting there taking down numbers for the Mark 6 and more numbers on racing days gives me a bloody headache.
To make matters worse, on the weekend, the inept ATV managed to leave one number out when giving out the winning numbers.
(Source: Cloud Front)
It really is a loser’s TV station and the sooner the HKJC runs away from them, the better.
(Source: Zcache)
As for the telebet operators, I’m sure, we all have our favorites and mine is staff number 6033.
Take a bow, madam, you are wonderful and here’s hoping the HKJC realizes what an exceptional job all these people do and how important these “little people” are to the smooth running of telebet accounts and turnover.

As for the racing, while it’s interesting to see how much support Caspar Fownes has thrown behind Zac Purton who returns to the fray after his laser surgery for kidney stones, I hasten to add that the trainer has his own beady eyes set on winning what is a very tight race for the trainers premiership which could really go either way.
But as for tonight, Cas seems ready to have an enormous night.
(Source: Apple Daily)
Personally, however, and it could be foolish to dismiss one of the best trainers Hong Kong has ever seen, but I think Sunday was John Size’s day to make his big move, but ended up with just the one winner- the very good Dr Good Habit.
(Source: Next Media)
For me, it’s now a three dog night Joy To The World day involving Dennis Yip, Tony Cruz and Caspar Fownes.
Tonight, the latter has a great hand with a runner in EVERY race, all with a winning chance and, unusually, drawn some decent barriers. This is a make or break night for Casibah.
What of The Zac Attack and has it been dulled by that wascally pincher, Douglas Whyte?
(Source: HKJC)
As 007 reminds us, Never Say Never, remember to have Thunderballs and a Goldfinger as Zac rides Gracytom, Great Alexander- both excellent winning chances for Fownes along with The Prince, Royal Partner and Grand Elite.
Whyte returns to the scene of that horrifying fall last week and has gone shopping for rides away from the Size camp with Twin Turbo and My Goal looking to be his best chances as he flexes his enormous Thunderballs.

The rest of the trainers in the running? Tony Cruz seems to have a great chance with Magnumous to be ridden by Matty Chadwick, who gave a superb riding display aboard the gutsy California Bounty whereas there is nothing much from Dennis Yip worth doing a song and dance about except perhaps Metallic Star on a VERY even looking card.

Just to prove its owners have no idea of time, Good Looking Watch runs tonight after missing out on last Sunday’s “Watch” day when every race was named after a French timepiece.

TONIGHT SELECTIONS FROM THE BIG APPLE
BEST BET
Race 6, No. 4 The Prince
Faded in his last run after setting a sizzling pace early. Will appreciate cutting back in trip and appears too classy for these.
SECOND BEST
Race 7, No. 8 Prolific Champion
Kept on well in last two starts despite being drawn off the track. Races handy and off the back of a slow tempo, should be right in the finish again.
LONGSHOT
Race 8, No. 2 Elegance Klammer
Last win was off a mark of 85 and the recent run behind Blazing Speed was respectable. Can improve with a return to his pet distance and the gun draw.
