News that Sydney’s “baby-faced” assassin- Tim Clarke- will be riding in Hong Kong is something we can all look forward to.

Though only 24, Clark has proven himself to be able to mix it with the big boys and how he does in Hong Kong will be interested to watch and riding against jockeys from other countries whose style will be very different to what he has been used to competing against in Oz.
Also, will be how quickly he adapts to being able to “read” the idiosyncratic Happy Valley track and which is a far tighter track than that in Shatin.
Being able to ride “light”, we think he will do very well and the experience gained in Hong Kong will make him a much better jockey when he returns to Australia.
Hong Kong has always made jockeys- especially those originally from Australia- that much better after gaining experience riding against local, South African, British and French jockeys. Dwayne Dunn, Craig Williams, William Pike, all come to mind.
Also heading to Hong Kong are two of Frances brightest young riding stars in Mickael Barzalona and Maxine Guyon.

Maxine Guyon quickly became a favourite with Hong Kong racing fans through his style and determination and his success with Ambitious Dragon.
He is very much Hong Kong’s Pinup Boy of Racing and THE jockey to follow in the three months he will be here.
Whereas Guyon is supposed to ride in Hong Kong for three months, set to ride here for a month will be the also very brilliant Mickael Barzalona.
Both young jockeys ride for legendary French trainer who has very publically said that both jockeys are future champions.
We cannot wait to see these new Young Guns in action.
There is also a rumour going around that another Young Gun in New Zealand’s 19-year-old James McDonald might also be heading to Hong Kong sooner than most think.

Add to all this Hong Kong own Young Guns in Vincent CY Ho, Matthew Chadwick, Derek Leung and Alvin Ng.
At the end of each race day, we might be all singing, “The Boys Are Back In Town”- and how we’re very glad that they are!
