The new way of looking at horse racing

WHO HIRES THESE IDIOTS TO RUN THEIR CHANNELS?

Without naming her, she came to Hong Kong with only her blonde looks going for her.

She parlayed this into running some little art gallery and which one of the most crooked twats in advertising – an Aussie – invested in.

He later became quickly intertwined with the then – Creative Director for Richard Li’s fledgling STAR TV and what a mess they created!

It was worse than PCCW’s 24-hour Customer Hotline.

And how many ripped off so much from so little which was that channel????

As for this blonde, today, she runs a television Entertainment channel and is living the “Hello, darlings” expat lifestyle in Singapore.

She is bloody useless in her job, but must be doing something else right as far as someone, somewhere is concerned.

Of course, there are many knobs like her running many companies around the world.

For the time being, however, let’s stick to the television world and those “international” channels with a “presence” in Asia.

Honestly, how many of these channels make any money?

And if they don’t make money, why do they need people to manage and run them?????

Okay, there are the subscription fees – and then what?

The channels are “barren” with any advertising.

Plus they are a bloody mess.

One day it’s Season One of “Mad Men”, then Season Three of “Mad Men”, and countless repeats.

And people think Fashion TV is cheap and tacky?

At least, this channel is making money and Michel Adam is laughing his fat ass off all the way to the bank.

Over the weekend we tuned in to CNBC to watch “The Late Show With Jay Leno”.

We tuned in early and there was Jimmy Fallon.

Leno never appeared. But there was Jimmy Fallon.

We are huge fans of Fallon and have to wonder when this change happened.

Has this show even been promoted outside of CNBC’s captive audience?

Meanwhile, we met a girl the other day who was bemoaning the fact that she missed MTV.

“But you can get MTV out in Asia” we said.

“Really?” she asked. “Where?”

Yes, yes, what marketing? What promotion? What MTV?

And then there are those who have watched MTV… and immediately switched off.

“They barely show any music videos,” they have said.

“It’s all reality shows. It’s RTV- Reality Television”.

MTV is a dead brand. It has no relevance.

Same with STAR World, Channel [V], AXN, FOX, the horrible Sony and Universal television channels, FX where the world is on repeat, that one channel that shows “marathon weekends” of “CSI” and those television channels crammed with absolutely horrible productions from Singapore.

Like the music industry, the television industry is down the crapper for the same reasons:

Wrong hires, bad management, lack of vision, lack of business and totally out-of-sync with consumers.
