We’ve seen the movie about Who’s Murdering The Great Chefs Of Europe, but what’s going on at Upper Elgin Street in Soho and who is, supposedly, robbing the restaurants there?
In the past few weeks, word is that La Bouchon, Nico’s and Enoteca On Elgin have all been victims of theft with one of the three restaurants being part of an inside job involving its chefs.
Holy Crap, Batman, one also hears that the money stolen was chump change- less than HK$100,000.
What’s also interesting is a chef who stole from his former workplace, tried to do a runner but was stopped at the airport and coughed up the dosh, has suckered a new investor into funding another restaurant where he is chef.
The Hong Kong restaurant business is already bleeding. It needs this “trend” like a hole in the head.
