(AND THE KITCHEN MUSICAL)
While the final Oktoberfest runs its course this Wednesday, next week, Fashion comes to Happy Valley and makes it three weeks of Happy Wednesdays.
Sure, there will be the Beer Garden, music from Universal Music’s Mister and local Hip Hop outfit 24 Herbs, host Cara G plus all the other good stuff one always finds in the coolest racecourse in the world.
But there will also be some extras.
Like what?
Like the presence of FTV- Fashion TV.
We wish the channel would have flown out some of its glamourous Eastern European models, but, alas, they won’t be there.
However, there will plenty of other eye candy – for males and females – and plenty of FTV Vodka.
There will also be fashion shows from brands like Diesel and Puma.
It will be hip event, it will be stylish and it will be full of wannabe fashionistas and the bona-fide variety.
We were thinking: Who are some of Hong Kong’s most fashionable people?
Are there any?
We’d have Edison Chen up there, but he flies in and outta Hong Kong so much he’s become more of a global ambassador of style.
We’d have Pharrell Williams on our list, but he has squat to do with Hong Kong.
Then again, what is fashion?
Is it what someone wears, or how they wear it?
Is being fashionable an attitude?
Who out here has an attitude – other than Edison?
E! Channel’s Dom Lau?
Model Rosemary Vandenbrouke?
Speaking of which, anyone catch her on the new TV series Kitchen Musical on AXN?
She – and the show – are really very good.
Sure, it’s GLEE in the kitchen or GLEE in a restaurant, but we reckon it’s one of the better productions we have seen out of Asia.
It doesn’t have that horrible “HP Space” type of Singaporean-la-la talent, accents and cornball “reality.”
A very pleasant surprise, indeed – VERY!
Don’t let the voice-over and script in the teaser spots put you off.
This is a very well cast and well produced show that, perhaps, could do with a bit better art direction.
Also good to see Rosemary back on her feet and not wrapped around a lamp posts in Vegas.
As for fashion, we’ve gone out to ask people about who’s fashionable and it seems divided into two groups.
The younger people cannot take those found on the local social pages- you know, Kitty, Katty, Pussy and Pom Pom and Wanky and Winky and Reel Ting.
To them, these are “oldies”.
They also prefer to dress down instead of dressing up.
Someone mentioned Luke Chow from the local band Hungry Ghosts.
We checked him out – a talented guy.
So, for the next few days, if you see some people with cameras snapping at your heels, that will probably be us.
We’re looking for the most “fashionable” people in Hong Kong – whatever this word “fashionable” really means.
Or if you think you’re fashionable, or know anyone you think to be fashionable, send us photos to info@fasttrack.hk
You won’t win a thing.
But we’ll post your pics here and take you as our guest to the races.
