Caspar Fownes has always been known as “The King Of Happy Valley” as, for some unknown reason, his horses- most in the lower classes- do best on the city track.
In Shatin, the popular trainer’s runners are often over the odds whereas Fownes’ runners tackling Happy Valley are always in the money and have a remarkable strike rate.
Coming off saddling a double last week, the trainer has another strong hand in nearly every race his charges tackle with leading chances appearing to be Robust Momentum, Lucky Double Eight and Speedygonzales.
With Zac Purton doing most of the riding for him and former regular stable jockey Brett Prebble only receiving the odd ride, Fownes will definitely add to his tally.
As for Purton, here’s another Happy Wednesday night that he can make his own like last Wednesday when he rode three winners in a row- two for Fownes.
